Which Mic ?

I agree the mic is a bit large but I manage to fit it in, apart from the stereo, I do believe it generally captures sound better as well? That's just a guess though.

Cloning/duplicating a mono to both L and R channels, yes that can be done, but if it's recorded in stereo, the L and R are not identical, right? My guess (again) that this give a more "real" sound if the car is passing on the right, the the R side has louder sound of the car engine than the L side? Might be noticeable in the playback?

Not that I'm super particular about the sound, personally I don't see huge difference (or maybe I don't care as much as I think I do).. Haha.

Now kids? Is there an argument somewhere I missed?

Nope, not going into the GoPro.

You're right SighBored, the mic has very little impact on the sound for this type of recording, your mic position in the helmet and your capture hardware are vastly more important.

Ok, I'm confused from both posts a few above :p .

Anyways... not to mention that you have a big shell of a helmet blocking most noise from the outside (aside from the noise coming from the motorcycle)... so any sound difference from cars will probably be minimal at best.

I called you kids, didn't say you were arguing. Tsk... ;)

Forgot you used a Zoom. Still debating one for myself, then I'd have to sort out the audio in post. Might just get a cheaper recorder now im staying with Drift rather than wiring my helmet to my pocket.

While I'm catching up, anyone ever considered a mic in each pocket for passing vehicles and audio?

I'd always recommend the simplest approach that gets results you're happy with, I just like the zoom because of the sexy street triple sound!

I'm considering a basic recorder for ambient, not helmet, and hoping to pay significantly less than the H2n.
