YT library has a bunch of them. I think it is a good start, because you don't use effects without modifying them anyway.

Thank you.

YT does have some sound effects yes, but not many that I like.

Freesound sounds great (see what I did there? ) but I have heard that even some CC licensed stuff can trigger a copyright infringement in YouTube - because perhaps YT is stupid. Anyone had that happen?

I will second (or third) Freesound. IIRC, that's where I got the 1 sound effect I needed to use in a video.

I searched YT's audio library, but short of finding good background music, I haven't found a single sound like you're talking about.

They are in a separate section. When you go to the audio library, first tab is for music, second is for effects and third is for sounds you have favorited.

Yeah, I went in there and searched (I wanted a camera shutter sound) but couldn't find anything. That's when I went to FreeSound.

I've previously used YouTube library or just searched YouTube and used a third party download site.
Will definitely be checking out the sites advised above.

I've used the YT Audio Library extensively so far, haven't really tried any other sources yet.

I have yet to find a single sound that I was looking for on YT's library.

Music though, I find all my music there :D

I think some of the problem is not always that YT doesn't have what we want, it's more that every video creator uses the same sample peices so that can cause either an over use or a dislike because it's no long unique.

This is a thing. I haven't heard any of the music I've picked used anywhere else yet, but I have noticed a lot of motovlogger intro music used by many different people on YT.

Yep - I was watching a Yammie Noob video a few weeks ago and recognized his bg music was the track I used in the intro/titles of my first few videos!

Epidemicsound.com is not free, but you can cancel anytime and your sound effects are good for life as long as you had a paid subscription during the month you uploaded your video with the sounds effects applied.

I saw something like that on one of the talking head "how to YouTube" type videos I watched earlier in the week... dude straight-up gave the suggestion and then quietly and into his hand said, "but no, I didn't tell you to do that" ... I about fell out of my chair! The kicker was, it was a sponsored video by THAT COMPANY! Hahaha

I have found that free sound effects, as well as free music are also the most crappiest you can get, and they potentially ruin your video. I finally decided to subscribe to a pay for music website that also offers sound effects, and although you need a budget for the yearly fee, gives far superior, copyright free, decent music and sound effects for your vids.
