What Types Of Videos Get The Most Traffic On Your Channel?

Hopes he doesn't crash this month
Just curious if other channels are similar to mine.

I get pretty consistent traffic on my Ride Recon (first ride) video of the Zero, but everything else is an initial spike and taper off. I get sparse hits on my maintenance videos. Everyone once in a while I'll have someone on the motovlog playlist working their way through.

Is this about the same for other new vloggers?

I'm working on my second Ride Recon now so I'll be able to see if that trend is for the first ride type stuff, or just the Zero being unique.

Yep. Pretty much the same over here. I've got two videos that didn't follow this trend. A DIY I did with NakedDave and my crash video.

I also recently had a a couple of new subs go through both my Motovlog and Commuting playlist. One after the other. Strange how these things happen.

Yeah, like was discussed in another thread, crash videos will always get traffic. Hopefully that's not what makes my channel. Fingers crossed.

And we are bound to put up SOMETHING that peaks interest and promotes a ride down playlist lane, but I don't see that as common just yet.

Dont have any first ride vids (yet), but i am getting constant 20-25 views a day on my 10 things i hate about by bike vid. Analytics show some strange sources for it too, websites that dont have a place to link/post videos, so im not sure how that is showing up. Most of my other videos so far are a spike when i post them, then 1-2 every couple days as they come across the suggested videos on the side.

My last video is growing fast imo, 85 views in about 5 days and 100 in the 6 days. Normally I got 70 in the 7 days. Group ride with my friends grom!

lol. Yeah, I think collabs work well too. Doing things with others makes for a more interesting video IMO. I've got a dual vlog w/ @Skarcrow in editing and did some stuff with @kryten that's going up on his channel eventually. I'd like to do more of that mainly becasue I honestly have more fun with that stuff.

Yeah the grom gets me views :D I'll use it to my advantage lol!

Just made that 100 for ya ;)

Thank you! :)

I've been edging to get more footage but I've been working 15 hour days and when I've had time it starts storming out :(

I know the feeling mate. I've been itching to get footage edited and uploaded but I've been studying for exams. Wrote my last one yesterday, first of the videos went out this morning :D gotta love the internet speed at work!

YouTube is so random a simple ride for some burgers suddenly had so many views. I know it's not really random if you look through the analytics and tags, and etc etc etc but for the simple guy, it feels pretty random.

Some like my workshop series where it's just basically me bugging the mechanic while he works on my bike, servicing/changing tires/etc. People want to know what (and how much) the maintenance is, my guess it's either people planning to get a similar bike or current owners that want to know what needs to be done at what intervals.

But crashes and almost crashing seems to always be the good stuff. I guess.

Put it this way PewDiePie has the No1 youtube channel and by a long way.

So there are 2 theories you can use here, do something similar and springboard off him, or do something nothing like it and hope for the best.

As for my own channel. Its a helmet review video, followed my my 2 falling off video's, then my randoms video.

Think my gopro vs drift one will take over shortly.

Thanks for the info everyone! I'm going to try another type of video soon and see how it goes. Something topical.

I feel bad that I haven't posted that video yet. I promise both the demo ride and the other dual vlog will go up next week. I don't blame the local guys for not wanting to collab with me since I'm so slow with posting after we actually go out and record. I seriously need to work on that.

Dude, I in no way meant that to be a call out or anything! I know you're busy. I am too.

Furreals tho ... we need to ride soon! I think both of our bikes should be cured of major ailments at this point.

For some reason my most popular video with over 500 views is one entitled "Who says romance is dead." - It would seem sex sells :)

My highest viewed one right now is my "Riding History" but I think the only reason that's the case is the thumbnail reads "all night long" so really it seams that thumbnail has a lot to do to get a viewers attention.

For sure, but having a thumbnail that doesn't match the content is technically against the YouTube policies. But people do it all the time and it's quite subjective. If you look at your retention stats it'll tell you if you're duping people.

Mine is hard to tell, I don't have good retention on any of my videos so far. My thumbnail isn't trying to be misrepresenting just a funny line regarding "riding"
