What I Think When I Hear Excessive Cussing

Guys cmon its simple... Why should someone censor themselves for your ignorance? Stop being silly... if you don't like it, don't listen. Simple really...

Is it really ignorance? Is it really censoring?

Or

Is it being self aware and self editing in order to communicate effectively with a broader audience?

Remember, I wrote excessive cussing. Now that may seem subjective because we all have different levels but it really is not subjective in as far as the audience goes. That audience we have only slight insight into. My YouTube analytics shows for my channel it is a sausage fest. A ton more males than females and the are a bit older. That ones not really tell me much though. Are they educated? What are there turn on and turn offs? Plus what about the untapped audience?

Now, I am not looking to make this a living but as most artists go I want to share my creations with others. If I refuse to think of how I present others and fail to self edit then I will defeat my goal because I am not reaching as many people.

Example, I watched a huge motovloggers that I personally dispise their style and suspect they truly do not ride. However, it had been some time so I figure I would take the chance and see what they had to say about a motorcycles company social media marketing gimmick. It seemed the motovlogger spent more time setting the stage with the bike parked in the room and helmet staged than they spent editing the script to make the video packed full of content in as little time as possible. Then the choice of words was worse! Speaking of women who dress proactively getting raped was used to illustrate why the motovlogger felt justified in their attack on the campaign. Unfortunately they were neither as eloquent nor succinct in their particular phrasing.

Wow! I would love to see that analytics.

To curse when appropriate is one thing but to throw cuss words in because it makes the creator feel more powerful or if they cannot think of a better word - that is concerning. It comes off as shallow and lacking of any real substance.

It has been a fun discussion though and hopefully given us all something to think about or even do a video soliciting our own audiences input.

I get where you're coming from with that. Sadly, i think it appeals to a broader less educate audience as well as those who're educated. (I am referring to just generally swear that comes naturally of course that isn't targeted at someone) to put it in a better perspective, Its like, sex sells y'know. I can assure you all.. anyone of us could probably go viral easily if we had a very attractive female in our vlogs pose with our bikes etc.

Thanks man. That is one of the challenges in life, the rugged right right vs. the easy wrong.

As for good looking females - I want to keep my bike so I am limited to one good looking female now - the wife. (insert caned awweee sound).

Everybody has their own opinions. Whether you respect them or not, thats your choice. I for one don't really give a fuck :D Plus, i don't look too much into what my audience cares about in regards to my language. If they don't like it, then don't watch it? It really isn't rocket science. I dislike DoItWithDan videos.. so i don't watch his content. Simple really. I will never change my personality or the way i communicate for somebody elses benefit. Especially when everything is done in an informal trusted manner.

I'm curious why you dislike DOit's videos? Not defending him, he actually irks me a bit and I'm curious what turns other off from hi stuff or stuff like his.

I think it's a personal choice regarding how much you swear and how much swearing you want to listen to.

When I had kids I decided to try and cut out swearing in daily conversation, I was in the Army at the time so it was an interesting struggle but my kids and my junior colleagues took notice when I choose to swear.

In conversation with others if they swear excessively I'd zone out and just end up counting the 'F' word. I choose not to watch Vlogs with loads of swearing but I wouldn't suggest someone should change their communication style.

I treat my viewers as if they are my friends, so I swear and act as I would if they were someone I drank with. If folk (who know I swear) watch my vids in front of kids/minors/etc then not my issue! :-)
