Welcome to Motogato

Hello,
I hope all is well with everyone.

I go by Gato and I am currently living in West Virginia. I am not native to here and just recently brought my bike out with me. This is one of the most beautiful states I have visited and I am so blessed to have so many beautiful roads around me. I come from a big city, so country roads are so refreshingly nice and fun to ride.
I started recording my rides for safety with a Gopro and was surprised by the videos and felt they were too nice to not share. Especially for people who don't have roads like these where they currently are, so I decided to learn final cut on the computer and buy a good mic to get rid of excessive wind noise. Motogato is the Channel that I made to document and share my rides throughout country backroads, roads and highways. I am trying to not only document the different terrain and areas, but I want to document the different seasons because the roads are not the same year round. It feels like you are in a different place with every season.

My videos are chest mounted so there is no head movement, I have a mic that I put behind my back in a fanny pack in order to record my bike without excessive wind noise, I don't talk at all since they are mainly my safety cam footage and I don't have much to say. I also don't ride excessively fast or aggressively, I try to enjoy my rides and make it home at the end of the day.

I was hoping to connect with you all and find a community of people who enjoy these types of videos, Reddit does not seem to have a strong community for it. Would love to know of any subreddits you recommend.

I don't have a picture of my bike directly, but I took a screenshot of my video with my bike in it.

Hope to see you all on here and hopefully over on youtube.
There are two Motogato on youtube. Mine is the one that is not Russian, is spelled with a lower case g and has less subscribers.

Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers and safe riding!

Welcome!
With mining being big there, I bet there a some interesting small towns to explore and share with others.

Welcome!
Those are some nice relaxing scenic rides.
Hey Skipshift,
Hope all is good your way.

Thank you, they really are a pleasure to ride. I hope to get more of the state documented on video, it really is an absolutely gorgeous place.

Cheers and safe riding!

Welcome. I think chest mount videos on sport bikes work really well.
HeyDewey316,
Hope all is good your way.

I believe they do as well. I originally intended to put it on my helmet, but I needed a new helmet and didn't want to put anything on it because it was new and pretty, so I decided to start wearing a chest mount. The videos came out better for me, so I've kept it and have become rather fond of it.

I did not realize how much smoother the ride appears on video. I really like it as you said for a sport bike, it gets you closer to the bike, it's a great angle.

Cheers and safe riding!

Hey R-Rated,
Hope all is good your way.

There are small little towns everywhere. They are separated by about 10-40 miles each and the roads in between them go through the Appalachian mountains. The roads are usually always right next to a river, creek, valley or gulch. It is really good riding, you go from town to town riding the country hwys and roads that connect them.
You can take the interstate, but it's no fun, the are more straight and less scenic. Get you there faster, but I am not too worried about that. I only take them sometimes to get to the twisties faster, or bypass a lot of road that you are not interested in at the moment.

Cheers and safe riding!

Welcome Motogato, sweet name by the way! WV is a fantastic state for riding, honestly its in my top 5 favorite states in the US to ride in. I actually have two videos riding the Back of the Dragon (WV route 16) over the next two weeks, one of my absolute favorite roads in WV! If you've never been on WV 16 then I highly suggest you get down there, as a bike like yours would be super fun on that road! :D

Hey Moto Mengy,
I hope all is good your way!

Thanks for the compliment on the name, I like yours as well!
I just recently brought my motorcycle out here. I have a lot of plans for the state, I will definitely have to add route 16 to it! This state is gorgeous, at times the roads can be bumpy in some places but overall, it's great riding for miles and miles. It will definitely take me a long time before I run out of new road.

I appreciate the suggestions and compliments!
Cheers and safe riding!
