TOMSTC
Hi All,
Apologies if this is not OK to post here, I am not looking to promote (well maybe a bit) more just see what you guys think?
I have a website www.tomstc.co.uk I have had it for years now. In the past using word press which was great until the hosts neglected to help me when it got hacked.

So I have moved onto a simpler format after a long break, no one tells you how much maintenance websites need!
So anyway I just would like a few clicks to go and tell me what you think?
It's still a work in progress but it's getting there I think!

Security updates, patches etc etc
I got hacked and from that point it was a constant struggle to keep it going, costing more and more to keep it safe.

Is why I gave up moderating this group. Too much work for very little gain. biggest offload was dealing with spam... folk used to get annoyed at me keeping it off the forum. Now I can't stop it and no one will as it is no longer moderated.
No moderator eh?

Seriously though - Is there a job opening @Hippo-Drones or @dandoolittle?

What kind of maintenance does a web page need, unless you use wordpress or other similar platform, that makes you dependent of others?
I have had a website since I started a business back in 2008. I set it up through vendor. The only thing is I need to set a reminder to go and refresh it. I think @Drakhen99 has one too.

It is a great option to share videos through a website to help YouTube see your content is being shared but it can cost money. If it was not for having a business license so I can claim the expense of the website on my taxes then it could be a money drain.

No idea mate, although with how the forum was set up, I imagine it has quite a few new member requests waiting on approval... or denial and putting in the spam pile more likely.
This is currently why there isn't a shed load of spam on here other than the odd infraction on the rules from current members, no new people are getting in and I did a huge amount of work on keeping them out while I was admin on here.

Yep, I have a website... and you're right - it depends on your taxes as to whether or not it's a write-off.

It's good to share, AND you have a place if you want to do something off-brand for the channel. If that takes off, you can pivot, mix content types, all sorts of options open up!

I have one since... maybe 20 years? Not related in any way to my youtube stuff. I have kept it because my e-mail is linked to that address. Back in the day I used the public e-mail services only for fake accounts on sites I visited once or twice. And I have never returned to any of them, because I have (almost) no size limit to the mails I can exchange, and I just have all my mail history in there.
In any case, I have not done any updating to the page in ages. Sure the service provider updates the software everything runs on, but as long as I write the code myself, and there are no outdated functions, then I don't see what's there to update. If it was a page where I would draw visitors, then sure, the content would need updating, but that's about it.
