Waterproofing My Gopro and mic

So after a few months of 100+ degree days with not a single drop of rain to hinder my filming, the weather has suddenly decided to turn to monsoon season for Central Oklahoma. Inevitable my uncle (harley rider) is giving me crap about how "ya'll crotch rocket racers are scared of water!". I tell him thats not true I ride in the rain all the time, its no big deal to me. He says prove it....

I use a Gopro 2, and until now I was using a skeleton housing to plug my mic in. In prep for this weekend I took one of my waterproof housings and drilled a hole in the side for the mic plug. I plan on just using some electrical tape around the wire and hole to kind of seal it off. But obviously I'm not really down with the trial and error stratagy when it comes to my $300 camera + mic +SD card.

Does anyone have any tried and true methods for waterproofing their external mic gopro?

I used the go pro 2 with skeleton housing and one of the silicone covers you can buy from eBay. You hav to make slit in the side of the cover for the microphone jack ( not ahold) I never had any issues and that was heavy is rain on a 70mph road.... I don't know if I would trust I if it was absolutely chucking it down though as its not a perfect seal... I would imagine it only becoming a problem I th housing filled with water though... Go pro and the majority of electrics are ok splash wise but no to b submersed.....
