TriumfAnt

It was good while it lasted
Anyone planning on giving Vimeo a try? I might post my next vid on YT and Vimeo for a comparison.

If anyone else wants to give it a go, post your new Vimeo channel below so others can follow you.

I'll start us off...

Vimeo is pretty dang cool and all...but I don't like the idea of having to pay money in order to upload more than 1 HD video a week. I bet if they made unlimited HD uploads and allowed video ads like YouTube, then there would be an unflux of users switching over to that site instead. Basically, if they went back to the way YouTube used to be.

Good point TTG. I never post more than one HD vid per week, so that's not a problem for me. I'll see what I think of it and decide it I want to stay with it.

Just rego'd and decided to make the same move, vimeo seems to be growing in popularity, gotta move with the times bros!

If most of us didn't move with the times we'd all still be updating our MySpace pages, just sayin...

1 cookie for me for remembering the 3 year old password.
I had a Vimeo account already but never used it for anything. I lurked a couple times and found very good quality videos.

Vimeo was out since about 10 years ago. It's not a new service/community/website.

The only thing that kinda bothers me is, vimeo is youtube but a lot less mainstream and people there upload high quality content and it's critical about what they see. I don't know if we can fit there. I actually know a couple users from here that can keep up with quality and creativity but what's left for the rest of the hooligans?

Someone, needs to develop the skills to make a video sharing site JUST for motovlogs and anything bike related!

That will be too isolating. The way I was introduced to motovlogs was the availability of those videos on mainstream media. If you create a motovlogger youtube, it's going to be something completely separate to support only the niche. You cannot stumble upon it if you're not looking for it.
Something good about having everything on a website is that you can "discover" content you're not looking for, just by chance. How many times we jumped to completely unrelated videos on youtube using the closing courtain? (the suggestions after each video).

Now, I'm watching some vimeo's and found nice features, you can track whoever liked your video, you can comment on everything, some videos (Maybe all of them) can be downloaded and you don't have to pay to get a pro account, there are some challenges you can participate in (not as silly as singing in your helmet, hahaha!) and you can get a PRO account for a year. And the best of all, NO ADS!.

I only just realised the other day that I had joined this site about 3 years ago, so I logged in again and changed my username to match my youtube name. I could probably get away with the basic package of 1 HD upload a week considering I'm not a prolific uploader anyway, but remember, I think Vimeo's HD is classified at 720p on the basic account and you need plus or pro accounts for the option to show your videos in 1080p.

I upgraded to the plus account anyway, my thinking was, well, if youtube is paying me ad revenue for my videos then that can pay for the upgrade. Btw, I switched from an Adsense to a Fullscreen contract as they pay a little better IMO.

I know the site looks a little sparse, but I like it that way, it's far less messy looking and easy to work out what to do on there. I also like the videos they have in their Help section that covers many of the main video editing software suites out there, so you'll know what the best rendering options are for your video before uploading it.

As Shirou pointed out, having a niche site just for moto-vlogs would be quite restrictive, but at the same time, it's probably already a niche site, being as most of the stuff on there is for amateur/semi pro video producers. That's not to say we can't fit in over there too, just abide by their T & C's and don't piss people off and you'll be fine!

so ... they are the video 'elite' huh?!? .. i'm gonna have to check this out now... being an Aussie 'we dont like snobs/elitists/overlords much!' ..

as for the rest of the hooligans... (though i dont know if i have even elevated myself to hooligan yet) .. they can descend onto vimeo in force and numbers... "yea though the citizens of Vimland wailed and gnashed their teeth at the hordes of unwashed commoners sitting around in the plazas and common property areas crying out 'were all goin home in the back of a divvy van' and leaving their hot chip wrappers around for all to sniff at" .... .. woops got a bit carried away there! ;)

i wont get too much more wordy about it before i have a looksee... but unless the bosses of Vimeo actually crack down because their 'pets' wail about 'poor video quality' ... being a public? internet service.. or at least viewable by everyone out on the web ... then the artistes better suck it up eh... i can only see more people starting into sites like vimeo because of the distaste for the G+/YT homogolation ..

.. just tried to 'like' triumfAnts vid.. gotta have an account to do even that eh?!.... sigh

ok .. joined... followed triumf and luis ... shirou i cant tell which one is you from the search ..

uploading my MT09 vid just for fun...

using same name as here... and everywhere really!
