Video Editing Tips And Programs

I use vsdc. It's free to edit video but in order to export your video to your computer you have to upgrade to premium which is $20. I started out with Windows movie maker.

A lot of folks use Sony Vegas, but personally I prefer Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Can be expensive though.

I use Sony Vegas. Its good, but can be difficult to work out how to add some effects. But I find searching on youtube for what your trying to achieve and there are some great videos which explain it clearly what to do.

some one recommended premier i wanted to look into it not sure what to use yet i want a good program that gives me a lot of editing options

Premiere is all I use most of the time. Tons of effects and image controll possibilities, plenty of tools for editing, layered editing is easy, handles lots of files. Kinda user friendly compared to the potential.
You get most of this with Sony Vegas too, they are pretty much equal featurewise, Premiere might be a bit better on effects and the like. But for motovlog use, either works well.

Sony Vegas, real easy once you get the hang of it, and there is a big community so loads of videos out there to help you along the way.

I support the Sony Vegas idea. Bunch of tutorials, good plugins, easy to use. Not Hollywood production quality but more than a motovlogger could ever wish for.

I use Final Cut Pro. It's a bit clunky, and apple-tastic (meaning, apple's way or you're just wrong) -- I must admit the more I've used it the faster I've gotten with it, so I can't complain.

I'm a premier pro & after effects guy. I find it pretty difficult as I am really new to editing but there is loads of tutorials out there and most help is a google search away. I've tried both Sony Vegas and Premier pro and they are both mostly the same in terms of power and what can be done. More of a personal preference really!

Try find some free trials and give both a shot and see which one you prefer more!

I use vegas. I don't really know what I'm doing with it to be honest. I have thought about learning more but thats not really what my vlogs are about, and I can't seem to find the time to get anywhere.

Do you find it worth the money over iMovie? I'm thinking of upgrading.

Well, FCP is definitely more powerful. Overlaying videos alone is probably worth the money.

Check out just the first second - my intro -- I'm not sure how you would do this with iMovie. Pardon the clickbait. ;)

I agree. It's a bit limiting only having one overlay. I may just have to cough up the money for the upgrade.

Cheers.

For me the interface of Premier just seems cleaner and easier to navigate. I took to Premier CC a bit quicker but I have used an older version previously many years ago at school.
Switching layouts is really quick and easy, which brings all the essential windows to light for the particular task of editting that you are doing. eg. Audio, color, effects, etc
Plus the interoperability with After Effects & Photoshop will make the more advanced editing easier as well. (I'm not there yet)
The Vegas interface is starting to show it's age IMHO. Though it does hold it's own in terms of capability.

I have not used FCP so I can't compare to it.

But in the end it is all personal preference.
