Motorbike MartinT on YOUTUBE
Okay, just wondering how many vloggers show their face on their youtube?
I get some people worry that if you film yourself speeding or anything this may make it easier for police to find you? - surely as long as you dont show the number plate should be fine? - (in the future want to do some beard care videos)

All that hiding gets you nowhere unless you do things dumb. Case and point, while I do quick sprints and such, I try to keep it somewhat civil. I'm up for a promotion at work, if things go my way, and it doesn't take much effort to see what my outside of work hobbies are. If one of the bigwigs go search me and find something they done like...
But long story short, you do see my face in some review videos. I wont, however, reveal my home, address, or any personal data that can not be seen on the streets.

If people are worried about getting seen speeding in their videos, DONT POST IT!! You have control over what people see you do on youtube.

I hide my face, obviously.

If you meet me and ask what I do, I'd have no problem telling anyone though.

Its more of a image thing than being secretive.

I don't much care about staying anonymous for legal reasons. I just like to keep some things private. Most of my subs know who I am anyway

Nobody's annomoyous so why try. If your worried about being caught on YouTube comitting a crime why are you not worried about it when you did it. I'd hate to think my local police sit there all day watching YouTube footage looking for speeding riders. Surely that's what they have speed cameras for.

I also have more respect for riders who do show thier face.

Lol I literally just finished uploading a vid about Motovloggers anonimity. Whether you show your face or not is entirely up to you. Being easier to find by the police shouldn't even be a factor in that equation. If it is ... well then you are doing something wrong. LITERALLY :D

I honestly am doing the anonymous thing just to test it out. Are people going to ask for a face reveal? Is this something I can do for a celebration video? More of a trial for me then protection because of legal issues

I tried for ages but then you can't help but go on group rides etc

I guess if you're using the same routes all the time and locals start to watch you, it voids that out as well really as people aren't stupid

I don't think there's any reason to drop your name, address or personal details in a motovlog, my face hasn't appeared because the content I do doesn't need it to be there

I think you hamstring yourself on creative content and projects by remaining hidden. Is it more of a hassle to show your face or spend hours thinking away around showing your face, or trying to change your idea to fit your need for anonymity? Or to just do it exactly the way your want to do it? It's a weight off to simplify the process, plus I think it creates more of a connection with your viewers than just some faceless mouth piece on a motorcycle.

I choose to be anonymous, because I want to keep a low profile. Many have asked for face reveal, to which I decline. I don't bait people with "if I reach a 100k subs I will reveal my face" or stuff like that. I just don't want to do a face reveal.

Some have said that you need to put yourself out there if you want to be on top. I don't deny it, but I still choose not to do it. I'm fine the way it is. I have been noticed by motorcycle/accessories brands even without showing my smug mug. Some of them actually like that "mysterious" feel of not knowing what the person looks like.

Whichever route you choose to be on, do it for your own reasons. :)

Personally, as of right now anyways, my face isnt being revealed. I see no added benefit. My videos don't require my face, so why bother including it? I'm starting a video series where I will go over rebuilding an old snowmobile, if the situation arises where my face ends up in one of the videos, so be it. I won't blur it out.

What kind of videos can you make that you NEED to show your face? I would prefer to see a product, scene, bike, event; rather than a single face. It's literally a selfie and the market is saturated with IG selfie wannabies. Yea, i'm not a fan of selfies.

I don't show it, as it's hard to when riding ;)

Ha, anyway, I don't show it, but that's not just because I'm riding, but I don't think I've had a reason to do a piece to camera, and would probably feel weird doing that as I'm not a presenter. My face is in a couple of other people's videos though.

There usually isn't a NEED but rather a possible annoyance in a creative project. You're talking about someone talking in to a gopro on a selfie stick, which isn't the case. Look at Shadetree Surgeon or Backroad Moto, they are motovloggers but they don't have to do all their projects with a helmet on for whatever reason people cover it up. It's adds sincerity and removes the literal barrier from a connection with their viewers. Agree or not it doesn't matter, but if you equate it with IG selfies then you are missing the point. Or you're just being snarky. You can't brand a helmet and bike that anyone can go out and buy. Personally, they just become another helmet in a saturated genre of anonymity, because motovloggers before them did it.

If you're not doing Ghostrider666 or super illegal stuff then it's kind of hollow isn't it? Even so, it's not like the police can't just track your upload location from YouTube.

no place is so large that a particular rider on a particular bike can't be found/singled out. all vloggers who get popular eventually start to be recognized in their local area. even if you don't show face, they'll know you when they see you. They can be fans, or the police.

I've debated with the whole face reveal thing as well. After a while I just decided if you see it, you see it. If not, whatever. I generally dont do any videos where youd need to see my face any way.

Also the fact that my mic is inside my helmet means that the only way to hear my voice is if my helmet is on lol.
