To Stay Anonymous?

Do you show your face on youtube?

On my vlogs I tend to stay anonymous, even my maintenance videos I've made have me wearing the crash helmet.

I have a real problem with crowds and conversing with people I don't know. Even neighbours. But behind the youtube channel I can be myself without worrying that someone will come up to me in the street and tell me what a dick I am!

I choose to be Anonymous, keeps the trolls at bay. You never know what someone can do if they so much as see your face.

I am the same as you on this Captain, I am a very private person and do not open up or trust easily.
So I guess it comes down to privacy for me.

Regarding the law........ if they really want to get you they will no matter how much your try to hide your face or plate.
Remember we are showing and talking about the roads we ride on, so they know exactly where to find us. Plus if you stick to a routine they will also have a fairly good idea of when you will be there.

I thought the whole 'anonymous' thing was like Superhero's, it adds a little mystery plus appeal? Alot here appear to have other reasons for staying anonymous.

YouTube is full of millions of videos, recording babies and children, to the elderly (with faces in full view), on every topic / hobby you can imagine. Why are the guys who wear motorcycle helmets that largely obscure your face/head anyway, the exception? :)

For me, my limit would be NOT to record a video showing me ride home, or leaving home along the streets - where someone might be able to identify my property then target my motorcycle(s). I'd happily show my face, but I'm no Adonis! :D

ETA: Oh, plus if you are that sensitive about what other people think of you, disable Comments on your (youtube) videos. ;)

I thin the main thing here is speeding...even keeping up with traffic, you're speeding these days. The 'catch' is that we're recording while we're doing it.

The other is that some people just like to be 'anon' and their vlogs are nothing like the real person....I kinda get that but I see a shite load of vlogs due to this site, most you can tell they're acting on it

I haven't shown my face, but I might in the future. I don't really try to hide my identity though, there are breadcrumbs people could probably follow to the real me if they wanted to. I won't show my face anytime real soon because really who cares? Later once I have established a relationship with my audience I might get a little more personal.
Its kind of like dating a nice lady. You don't just whip it out right off the bat. You have to get to know each other first. Then read the signals and if that's what you both want go for it.

i whipped it out on the first date, and now im married. So, yeah, be careful how fast you jump in. LOL

You've contradicted yourself. Surely you mean don't be careful how fast you jump in, for favourable results? So how old is that kid now? :)

no kid involved in this. I also didnt say it was a favorable result, was just a warning if this is not the result you were looking for. ;)

I see! Well if you were out to impress on that first date (usually the case), it certainly worked. :)

I honestly am doing the anonymous thing just to test it out. Are people going to ask for a face reveal? Is this something I can do for a celebration video? More of a trial for me then protection because of legal issues

The suspense is killing me now!

Seriously, I get it. It is like car commercials back in the 80s and 90s not showing who is driving so the consumer can project their self into the situation easier.

And now my two cents,

Hiding the face can create intrigue while showing your face truly is consistent with the "no fxx given" mindset.

I am thinking of whipping out the Lone Ranger look for giggles . . .

^ Please keep your face masks for behind closed doors! :D Likely to get locked up roaming the streets wearing them! :p

I will only get locked up if I am wearing the mask . . .

AND NOTHING ELSE!

I'm gonna stay covered in videos that I know any violation is made... otherwise in Garage videos, or just playing around in closed area its gonna be face uncovered IF such an angle would appear.
