Rant Time To Put The Phone Down

Saw something this week that really pissed me off, especially the attitude of the driver in regards to my life. Let me know how you deal with this!

I'd just try to get him on camera and expose him for being the ignorant not-so-great guy that he is ~_~ . Some people feel like they have to be connected all the time - so much so that they can't disconnect themselves ~_~ . In essence, they're loosing out on a part of what is... well, what I would call "real life" :p . I don't own a smart phone and don't plan to anytime in the future - I have other stuff to go waste money on :p . People like that, though... geez >< !!!

I experience this kind of crap on a daily basis. This kind of stuff needs to stop. I think if the laws were stricter, and steeper, this stuff would stop. I think if the fine is over 2,000 dollars or more for first offense.

I've thought about going smartphone free before, but that's where all my music is :( . So I don't think I can do it lol. But it always amazes me how we're enslaved by our phones now, not being able to enjoy our day without them, they're amazing little pieces of technology though.

Can you believe this shit wasn't illegal in my county until this month? And it's just a $200 fine over here. You gotta start somewhere I guess, but if it's not treated with the seriousness it deserves things are never going to change.

Here in Nebraska, it's only a second offense... so unless you're getting pulled over for something else, you can't be stopped for it ~_~ . Really pointless, isn't it :p ???

(same with the seatbelt law - second offense and I'm like, wha' ??!

That is true. In Arkansas, it is only a 500 dollar fine currently for the first offense that I know of from a LEO. Here is something on it with Arkansas at: http://www.ghsa.org/html/stateinfo/bystate/ar.html , and here is another link that you might be interested in at: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/laws/cellphonelaws/maptextingbans?topicName=Distracted driving#map.
The fines for distracted driving depends on the state, but I think it should be considerably higher, since that distracted driving can lead to vehicular manslaughter charges.
Here is another link about that subject at: http://handsfreeinfo.com/arkansas-cell-phone-laws-legislation/

Thanks for the links man!

I see this all the time. Literally saw a girl texting WHILE driving day before yesterday. I used to have a "best friend" who would read text messages while driving despite me pleading with her to stop. She did that even knowing that I rode a motorcycle. You know why? Because she was that self absorbed. I never met a person who did this that wasn't just a self-absorbed asshole. I'd love to beat them in the face with their stupid phones.

It is amazing that even though it is illegal, people still do it, and it continues. We, as motovloggers need to start pressuring our "elected officials" to start enacting tougher laws. I wonder if you need to tell your friend how much you dislike her self absorbing ways, and maybe show her some videos of examples of what her self absorbed ways can lead to, like this video at:
or the most interesting one at:
, or have her look at this one the next time she thinks about texting while driving at:
.
I hope those videos will shock her and anyone that texts while driving that you know of. I think that those commercials should run during prime time television all throughout the week and the weekends, instead of showing the other worthless commercials.

In not too concerned when they are at lights or completely at a standstill because the only thing they do is hold people up ( but on the other hand they haven't read the situation before moving) but I have been known to point out people's errors and it all depends on their reaction ...the guy in the pick up I may well have verbally abused a bit more lol

Haha I usually have very angry thoughts but for some reason when I start talking to them it all goes away.

I know what you mean, they put whatever they're looking at on their phone on a higher priority over the lives of everyone around them, messed up! If you haven't already you should watch AdjrianNickelodeon's latest video to let off some steam haha.

Search BBC COW on YouTube as well.

Good stuff, I've always liked the BBC's PSA's. There's one where a car driver and a motorcycle rider switch vehicles which I've always thought is brilliant. I don't think it's BBC produced though but still good.

I definitely like that video. To me, that video should run here in the USA, but add more to it, like the texting while driving part, when the switch happens.
