The biker nod. Who does it/doesn't do it and why?

I always do, even to guys on scooters!
And I love it when I get a nod back

If you have to wheels and an engine between them, its a nod from me.

i'll nod everytime .. providing i see them early enough ... fast twisties are tricky though ..

i think its funny too ... several times last year i nodded to different young ladies on brand new scooters (being the flavour of the moment last year) ... whatever style of helmet they had (mostly bubble visor though  ) ... each of them had a huge grin and were clearly chuffed that a 'big bike' rider acknowledged them :D ... i make a point though! .. i know they werent chuffed that it was 'me' nodding .. it was just the general recognition that they too were fellow 'ridettes' ;)

I always nod but notice the Harley riders here do not usually nod back :) Unless I am on my mates Harley.

I nod when close to home on the commute as I see thouse bikers most days but once out of my area I dont bother too many of us ;) Weekend / Weekday ride outs... yea nod nod nod. :D

If I see someone, I nod or flash my lights or wave to everyone on two wheels. Being on a scooter, I get about an 80% return, but there is a regular guy commuting the other way I see that has never acknowledged me, not once. I don't know whether it is because he doesn;t feel I deserve it, or because he is too young to know about it. But I will continue to do it.

I nodded early at some guy on a massive touring bike the other day - his eyes stayed glued straight ahead, lol. Was very funny.

But soietimes in the dark and rain, I just don't see people early enough. Mainly because they are so close to the car in front of them - stay safe in these conditions guys, leave yourself the braking space, leave the tailgating shite to others

You flash your lights to say hello? That's completely different over here. Interesting.

I don't nod to Chavs, or people with out proper gear (well helmet, jacket and gloves is a minimum in my opinion).
If a Harley nods to me I do nod back, I even sometimes do it to L plates (usually because I don't see those plates until the last second)

And boots, always boots...

I saw this and I still think gloves are more important, the amount of people I know that take them off in summer is ridiculous... This guy will be able to walk and ride again(assuming that was a motorcycle accident) but if that was his hand he would probable loose it. I'm not too keen on boots (I always have full gear on since I had 125) but gloves are a must, the first think that hits the ground is your hand...
