Testing Of The External Microphone On Smh10

I am wondering if Sena will fix this problem of the external boom microphone switch to cancel out the wind noise. I am wondering if I need to put electrical tape over the windsock that I got from Heartland Honda when using the external microphone switch to the on position? (The place I got my motorcycle from)

I've been watching your videos, and it seems like you're still struggling to get clean audio.

I think the best option would be to just buy a popular microphone that's used by other motovloggers, put a windscreen on it, tuck it behind the cheekpad, and call it a day.

Thanks, I have been struggling for a while.I am definately thinking about the Drift Ghost S Microphone, and doing that because I am starting to wonder if it is the GP10 backpack or the SMH10 unit., and that I got a bad unit that was sold to me. I have been trying to get a hold of Sena today, but all I got was being put on hold for about 10 minutes, then having to leave a voice mail. I might just do that. I am so frustrated with it by now.

Yes, that is what I should do, but that does take some time to do it.

Definantly follow Artopures advice though...when I started I grabbed a single condensor mic from a chinese headset that costs 3 dollar....slapped it in my helmet and had my audio tons clearer then you are having right now. It doesn't need to be expensive or technical...just take it eaaaasssyyy and keep it simple.

Thanks, I think I have the audio thing figured out. I had sent in my old SMH10-11 to Sena, and they sent me back a replacement, and thanks to TwoWheelObsession, He helped me out a lot. He even did videos on it. One of them was while I was having problems with it, so he did this one at:

I told Sena to run some oscilloscopre tests on it, and I think with the replacement, those had been fixed, but I still think Sena needs to do a firmware update on their GP10 as well.

I just had to do a little research because I have an SMH10R and do not have any issues syncing to my GP10 and phone at the same time and never had any quality issues. That's when I had to look up the SMH10, I guess that is the older version. I do remember when I first got my 10R I had this same issue with volume and I had to run all the updates and all that went away.

True, but just like with anything else, some people just like to go further.

It's the same with modifying bikes, making a dedicated track machine, building/tweaking/overclocking PCs etc.

Yep, that is true, the only thing for me, is that I am on a limited budget, and I do like messing around with technology to get the best performance that I can get, however, I do not like substandard products that should have been looked at first without just producing a quantity product, without looking at the quality of the product. I guess I am just nerd-y that way. LOL Also I do have some background in electronics when I worked at an electronics manufacturing plant a few years back, so I kind of know what needs to be done to produce a quality product. The only bad thing is that the SMH10-11 is made in South Korea, so I guess the quality assurance there maybe needs to be improved upon, and functional testing needs to be done before it is ready for shipment.

Pretty much what everyone else has said, The boom mic for the sena isn't that great we only use it to communicate We've both got the Sena SMH10 and use a cheap £5 $8-9 mic hooked up to the go pro to capture audio.
