Swearing in Vlogs?

I'm Scottish - it's kind of expected

I don't vlog atm anyway, but certainly have zero issue with it when people do.

Aye but we could use or own words instead of swearing but they wouldnt understand us haha.

If someone swears in a video and it hurts your vagina, switch it the fuck off!

I don't often vlog as such - for the most part the only speaking you hear from me is a reaction to someone being an idiot or trying to kill me. This mostly means I swear.

I'd like my insults to be more witty/subtle/clever, but when someone has just tried to kill you all that goes out the window.

And fuck censorship, too!

Everybody's swearing and who doesn't, then he's lying.

Not true.
I don't swear. I haven't said a single swear word since I was about 13/14 and decided that it's crazy.
The English language is filled with a countless number of words that you can use to express yourself... why the need to swear all the time instead?

I just don't see the point.

Explain to me why and how 'excrement' is any different to 'shit' and I'll give you my full support.

Some even say "swearing is a sign of a limited vocabulary" - is it? So you exclude all swear words from your vocabulary and you're trying to argue that MINE is lower than YOURS?! I see a huge flaw in that argument!

It seems like most of us are on the same page regarding naughty words.

I agree that if people don't like something, they should probably just switch it off, no fuss.

While that's not exactly what I'm saying, I can see why someone would use that quote. It's in reference to the people that swear in every other word and replace words that really don't need to be replaced with a swear word.

It's entirely in the context.
Listen to someone who swears a lot and mentally replace the swear words with the word that the swear literally means. It'll sound weird.

I just find it more pleasant not to swear.

if you look back when i did my first few vlogs i used to beep it out, then i realised it was a whole lot of hassle to just bleep and remove the swearing so i dont bother anymore and just have the cavilier attitude if people dont like it then dont watch lol

I beep mine out, because it doesn't suit my choppy style of vlogging.

But un-beeped suits other styles like s5stanly who has more of a discussion and it flows through his dialogue.

I don't swear, and no I'm not lying about it, I just don't!

Some videos have some swearing that's no big deal. Some have swearing that IS a big deal. The difference? When people use swear words like others use "um" or "ah". To me, it's just as annoying. I've seen several vloggers who use swear words as 'filler words' or just every other word. It's choppy and annoying. And then there's some who must describe EVERYTHING with a swear word, that's also annoying. To me. To others? Maybe not, and that's fine.

It's real easy to just not watch a video if I don't like it. OP, you just need to be yourself!

But, just realize excessive swearing is probably going to limit your audience at least somewhat. So, if you're concerned about being marketable to a broad audience, lots of people wanting to watch your videos, etc., then I'd suggest limiting it. If you are not concerned about a broad audience but rather just having a few like-minded viewers and subscribers, go for it!

Also, just FYI; advertising companies will not consider videos with a lot of swearing very 'advertiser friendly'. So if you have dreams of full YouTube partnership, it's not gonna happen with a lot of swearing. Also, if you have a large audience and think you might get some product placement or be asked to review something; also not likely to happen, as, again, you'll be viewed as "not advertiser friendly". Same as if your content was excessively sexual or pornographic, contained illegal content (like doing 200mph on a 'Busa), etc. Things that advertisers (who ARE concerned with a broad audience) may be concerned about being associated with.

None of that may matter to you, but just throwing it out there.
