So I found a few similar topics but not exactly the same, so forgive the new topic plz...

I got tired of premiere being a piece of crap and decided to try vegas... I can't seem to find a good way to render. I tried MP4 and it has been 14 hours (overnight + work) and it was at 11% with my computer completely fucked. I tried WMV and it wouldn't go past 0%... The only one that actually worked was avi but the file size is ridiculous... WTF, can anyone help me?

These are the settings I have just started to use in vegas, suggested by Gogosor on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=103

Gogosor said:
My settings in Premiere Pro are:

4min vid = about 180Mb

Type: Video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 1 Pass
Target Bitrate Mbps: 6
Max Bitrate Mbps: 9
Resolution: 1280x720
Frame rate: 30

Type: Audio
Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 44100 Hz

YouTube re-encodes it very fast, as the settings are almost identical.

Hope this helps!

Just uploaded a video using this template, seems to work quite well. Best quality I have managed with awful youtube encoding!

If you are re-encoding a video say for example a 1080p video to a 720p it will take much longer to encode. I find its best to work in the native format of the video you have shot and you should find encode times are minutes.

With Premier
For example my POV.HD is set to record at 1080p (1920h 1080v) so I start a new project as a AVCHD - 1080p - AVCHD 1080p30.
So the project matches the input video.

Edit as normal

Then export at the same format for example HDTV 1080 and change the frame rate to match the input video of 30 or 29.7.

Set bit rate etc to what I feel like and then encode.

Now as its not re-encoding the video ie if I changed it to an output of 720p the encoding is fast but the downside is you can end up with a big file at the end depending on you bit rate etc.

Now I'm not saying this is the best way but I have found it works well and you can always DIVX the output file at the end to compress more if you so wish?
