I considered the old 650cs, the predecessor, and decided against it due to its lack of power and the expense of parts and maintenance. It was very comfortable, easy to ride, and got great gas mileage, came stock with heated grips, had a whopping 5 gallon tank... But, it was slower than my souped up KLX by a long shot. If I got a second bike, I wanted to go for power.

I have already picked the 690. It's been my A list bike for a long time. What's holding me back? Well, in a word: $$$. That, and I still love mine too much to give it up.

Definate beginner market(UK)/adv market

beginner as its 47bhp so its next years new licence holders "ph"resh (current is 33bhp restriction)
adventure as its BMW's reliable tough as nails single cylinder thumpha thing!

piddles to fix when it breaks down, any spanner with a hammer can get it running again

Mate at work has one and its damn funky! needs heated grips and handguards for the UK though,, damn cold!
