Sony Bloggie/Webbie, slight issue..

Hi all!

My Sony Bloggie/Webbie came in the mail today and I've test fitted it in my helmet soon after..

But I ran in to a slight issue... It presses against my face (nose and mouth) like crazy! I'm not sure if others with the same setup also have this, but it's pretty uncomfortable and makes talking pretty hard... It fits so tight I'll probably don't even need velcro or anything to keep it in my helmet..
So either my helmet is too small or my face too big

OR is it supposed to fit so tight??

back when I used the bloggie for my first attempt at vlogging, I'd use my tongue to hit the record button it was that tight. takes a bit off getting used to but it's a pretty decent camera to start with. My tip would be to put it far enough into the helmet so that the tip of your nose sits in the curve of where the lens turns. gives a couple of extra mm of space and stops any bumps from changing the Angle of the lens

it is pretty normal for it to be tight. Will help you make sure your vlogs are kept short because you'll only be able to cope for ten minute intervals tops haha

Well...cameras aren't exactly supposed to be shoved in your helmet haha. I could never get one of those cameras in my helmet. Helmet insides run different dimensions...and so do human heads. Some can fit those in their helmets, and others like me, can't. My first helmet camera set up...I had to cut out foam from my chin bar of my helmet to fit a Vado in there. I DO NOT recommed cutting up your helmet though. If you can't fit the camera in your helmet, you're going to have to find a different camera, it's that simple. Those bloggies are great for off the bike footage though.

So I guess I'll just have to make it work I'm not sure about using my tongue to start the recording.. Don't really want to get too intimate with my camera :mrgreen: But the record button is pretty big, so starting it shouldn't hopefully be a problem

I'm definitely not going to cut my helmet to make it fit better, helmets are pretty expensive and cutting in it will probably effect the safety it should provide in a crash, but having a camera in it probably is a safety risk itself too, but should make for some entertaining content :lol:

All in all I'll just have to just try and see how it works, if I really can't get used to it I'll have to save up for a different setup, we'll see

Im not sure how these things work, but surely its a bad idea to have anything inside your helmet. Helmets flex in a crash and you will be having your bloggie surgically removed from your nostril.

I use the kodak playsport which is pretty much the same dimensions as your cam. It just barely touches my nose now that I put a fisheye lens on it. It was really uncomfortable before the fisheye because I had to have the top pushed away from the chinbar(into my nose/mouth room) or the cam would just record the road directly in front of me. Now with the new lens it sits nice and tight to the chinbar and I have just enough room.

I love DX, just hate,hate,hate the shipping times out of China. Sometimes My order will take 2 weeks, sometimes it's a month or more. Having that new lens will make you feel like you have a whole new cam. One of these days I'll go pro and get a GoPro, but as long as I'm just a lowly amateur motovlogger the playsport will have to suffice.

Really? Must be the store you're ordering from or something. Last 3 orders I put into China took less than 10 days to arrive. Hell, one of them made it in 4 days..

I've had orders from DX come in, in only a week, but also a few that took several weeks, you can never really say for sure that an order will always arrive within a set timeframe. But for the cheap prices I kinda don't mind having to wait longer.

The lens finally came in! But... Everything is blurry as shit now.. The camera is not focussing at all, fov is decent but all blurry :cry:
I can't find any way of adjusting the focus.. So I guess the lens is a fail :cry:

That really sux. I know mine has it's moments when it wants to stay focused on the nearest thing it can see. When it does that my handlebars will be crisp and everything past them will be blurry.

Yep.. Ohwell.. The camera itself is still pretty decent for other purposes but I'm thinking it's not the right way to go for vlogging, have done a few tests, but the breathing noise is really bad making the footage unusable. But ordered a new camera cheap tiny MD80 knockoff i guess.. I guess I could have thought of getting it sooner, before I went and bought the Sony, but I really didn't expect the breathing issue, the (too) tight fit and thought the lens would've worked. If the MD80 doesn't workout it's only a $10 or so loss, no biggy..
