Sony Action Cam Hdr-as30v - Who Has One?

Site owner, lovely and adorable
I'm still bouncing between cameras with GPS. Who has the Sony HDR-AS30V? Any issues etc?

I'd only use it for the track so don't need a helmet cam with GPS. The sony's look crap on a lid anyway

DannyG1980 used to have the 30, and has now moved to the 100 IIRC. If you wanted to look at his everyday footage (he uses the image stabilisation), have a look here. Just in getting the link shows he started with the 100 about a month ago. Not seen him talk about the GPS features, but at least you can see real world footage.

I've tested the gps but never posted anything with it. I think it would be great for a track day. You'd be able to get a fairly good idea of track position along with speed, etc. I have the as100 though not the 30 but as far as I know they are really the same.

The 10 is the bigger brother isn't it?

The 30 does 1080/60, good enough for me. I'd live to see how the GPS works, be good for my long rides in to the Dales.

60fps is perfect for a track. I'm not bothered about rain etc so I think the 30 will be fine for me.

Nah, the 10 is the little brother... actually, the littlest brother, so no GPS :p . I do have a handheld Sony HandyCam that has GPS that I used for my road videos in my car, but I'm not sure if it was flakey when I got it or the sun from the dashboard baked it because it flaked out on me ~_~ (I had to deactivate it - I did get it for a steal off of ebay a few years back, though... maybe that's why ;) ~)...

...anyways, I think the 30 was the next generation of Action Cams  . The newer ones are white so that the sun doesn't overheat them (they turn off or at least used to at 105°F ~_~ ). When it's really hot outside, that is a definite minus :( (I encased the housing in electrical tape to help shield the cam - it helped a little bit ~_~ )...

Hope this helps out some :) !

(btw, the 15 also does 1080p and at at 60fps but still no gps ~_~ .....)

Thinking about it, if it does 720p120fps that would be better for track, especially if you get the kitty litter spraying up ;)

Got to be GPS for me though ;)
...forgot to mention that the battery life's amazing on these :D ! I can do a couple of hours of riding before the battery dies (since it's winter, I forget exactly how long, but maybe it's a bit more than two hours :o ???)...

Anyways, that can't be beat either :D ;) ~

I think I'll get one. It's rare Sony stuff is low quality (expect for phones)

I think for the price, I can't really go wrong.

My next vlogging cam will be the new Sena all in one

edit: Although it look's like their software that overlays the GPS won't work on a MAC

SSLOW is 720/120, be super smooth action for high speed passes and the pit wall flying past etc

^^
Exactly what I did... I got mine off of ebay for something like $70... a whole package deal including extra mounts, a sony carrying bag, etc. It was used, but who cares - as long as it works :D ... save $$$ ;) ~.....

Great choice, Dan :) !
