Something Between Imovie And Final Cut Pro X

guys, I'm stuck! iMovie isn't enough and fcpx costs way too much (I'm a seminary guy and don't want to do the "discount" thing for final cut). What is out there that will work for around $100? I don't want to do the who windows install on the mac either, I did parallels for some old programs I had to run and it was horrible!

I'm playing with the fcpx right now for another 27 days but really like it so far. What about Adobe premiere elements 13?

Not used Adobe, but I think in terms of use, it's right up there, but can you get it for your price point?

Think you've found your answer! You can get a legitimate free trial of Premiere to give it a go, and YT is loaded with free tutorials on how to use it. After Effects can be handy for titles too. @thunderous71 created his title in Ae.

Didn't seminary school teach you anything? Get the 'discount' Final Cut Pro and ask for forgiveness :)

I know, I know, you've heard that one a million times. Sorry.

Thought about that ;)

I have checked around and the only prices less than the $299 are a couple guys on eBay with electronic trench coats who are also selling "rolleckes"

I did finalize my first motovlog in the trial version of fcpx and I really, really liked it! A lot of what I did didn't actually make it to the video but it was fun to play around with and fairly intuitive! I'll get it finalized on YouTube tomorrow for ya'll to watch and you will get a kick out of it. I had a friend who edits for a living take a look for some advice and all I got back was a message on how everyone in the house was laughing. He did give me some awesome feedback but it won't make it until next video, of the following one if I try Adobe on the next one (mostly technique stuff so some translates either program)

I also tried the trial version of FCPX. I loved it but could justify spending that much money at the moment, so sticking with iMovie.

I would also recomend vegas pro but I don't know if it works on a mac. I had a copy of Final Cut X on my mac and loved it but I LOOOOVE VEGAS

I ended up dropping coin (29,900 pennies, btw that would equal 164.28 pounds of pennies...crap!) on fcpx. Adobe didn't seem quite as intuitive for me, meaning imovie did its job in prepping me to like fcpx over adobe...well played apple, well played. However, I did score a discount on the purchase by getting the $50 itunes gift cards for $40 each at staples on sale, and the last $50 was purchased with a walmart gift card. So it can be had for $240 (6x$40 for $300 in gift cards plus you can buy a $1 app)

There is a "Pro" in there isn't there, oh well I'm glad you got a product you enjoy, I loved it FCPX and would recommend it to anyone new to the game. Also A+ for being thrifty and getting a good deal.

Thanks! I've got to be thrifty, I have two little fellas with Down syndrome and we spend almost everything on preparing them to be productive citizens when they grow up. Our 5 year old was the top reader in his preschool class and he was the only one with special needs in there and is actually reading at a 3rd grade level! Our 7 year old spent half his life in a special need orphanage in Ukraine and has a lot of baggage to work through still...but he's getting there too!

I have seen friends who have picked up iTunes cards for 50% off, just have to look hard for them.

There are quite a few more options for text, transitions, import and export settings plus it can do 1080 at 60 fps. Do the free trial and look for those iTunes gift card discounts during the trial period

I'll definitely download the free trial. Thanks!
