Serious Sideswiped By A Minivan

Damn that was a close call ... you're the calmest guy on the planet lol ...i might have vented a bit ...glad you're ok bud

The way my brain works is weird. When things are normal, I'm cursing and goofing around, and being more emotional. In times of stress, I get real quiet and focused. It's something that has kept me alive over the years, so I just roll with it. Once the crisis is over I get more amped up and have to blow off all that adrenaline. I went home, ran and lifted weights after this! The original video was about 35 minutes long, as I was riding home from work. I do some shit talking toward the end, but I cut that stuff for time and content reasons.

The motorcycling community has been very supportive. Even the more critical people really were doing it to be constructive and especially now, after I've had time to sit and use my brain, I tend to agree with the criticisms.

How did the impact not lock up your front brake? Still baffled by this.

The impact did knock off about 2" of my brake lever. Basically made it into a "shorty" lever. I didn't even know this until I went to put the bike up for the night. It also hit and ground down a small piece of my bar end, so I'm thinking it was just enough of an angle that it didn't depress the lever. My shoulder took a blow, but thanks to proper safety gear I didn't even get a bruise from it.

That sort of thing is exactly why I ride an uncorked Diavel. FFS, I would have been livid if someone did that to me... then a few minutes later calm the hell down and go to the Flying Saucer for the rest of the day to celebrate still being alive.

I can't believe you kept riding. They would've pulled over or I would've followed them until they stopped.

What I wish I'd have done looking back was gotten his license plate, then got off the highway and called the cops. Here in Dallas, you have to be careful because if you start following someone or trying to force them to get off the road, they might ram you with their vehicle or shoot you. Remember, in this idiot's mind, he was probably the victim.

Yeah, best to just get a plate and call. Way too much rage-fueled vehicular manslaughter of motorcyclists going on lately to risk playing good cop.
