Scramblers

I was massive out here for a bit. Well they released a lot of them onto the market. Funny thing is I haven't seen any riding around.

Check my footage of the bike show here and you will see what I mean.

Well, I can certainly see why people like fender eliminator kits now. Lol. Yeah the "scramblers" I saw in there I don't know if I'd really call them that. I'm sure the term has taken on a new meaning now but use to (back in the 50's and 60's) it was a modified small cruiser. Back then they only had a few inches of suspension travel. In the 70's the dirt bikes began to take over the off-road scene with longer suspension travel and better handling. The scramblers on the video looked like dirtbikes with pretty fairings. To me they did anyway.

I've been noticing the resurrection of scrambler inspired bikes coming along with the rebranding of companies like Indian and Triumph. A scrambler is basically a dirt bike before dirt bikes were a thing. People would take bikes like the Indian Scout or something and put big knobby tires on it and few other upgrades. They had about 2 inches of suspension travel so they were practically hitting these trails and hills with hardtails. Its what they used in the old videos if the Hollister hill climb competitions and other events. If your into the history of big events like Sturgis, these are definitely good videos to watch. I think it's pretty cool and it's certainly something I'd be interested in building. I love the old-school look sprinkled with modern tech like EFI and LED lighting. Has anyone taken on a project like this?

I saw a guy that put off-road tires on a gsxr 1000. that was fairly insane. I prefer the old school looking scrambler projects although not many new bikes really lend themselves style wise to that kind of modification apart from the ones that are already off-road inspired anyway

I really like the scramblers, old and new by looks.

Ever since i tried the MASH Scrambler, i kinda loved the why the ride as well.

The Deserl Sled from Ducati might be one of the more beuatiful scramblers out there. Still waiting to try that one out.
Haven't touched the thriump yet.

The BMW NineT Scrambler rides like a charm, when you get used to the engine feelings.

I'd love to see some modern KTM enduros given the retro look, or even a Suzuki DRZ SM, I think it could look amazing AND be bloomin useful either in the dirt or on track. I am not a fan of the pseudo scramblers though

A Scrambler to me is a Dirt Bike, pref' 2T. Not a 4T retro/cafe road bike with knobbies on it. Shit really irritates me.

So the Desert Sled is more a Scrambler to you then all the other new ones?

Nah that's just a retro road bike with knobbies to me lol. A scrambler to me is an MX bike. I guess it's just lingo i inherited from the older generation.

mx bike to me is a enduro bike xD
In the UK an enduro bike has lights and is generally road registered whereas an MX bike is not road legal. Enduro bikes are run on cross country courses and MX are on short circuits. (am sure you already knew the differences, not meaning to teach folk to suck eggs) :)

No defintly true.
But i would throw a mx more easy into a enduro category then a scrambler category. ;)
