Scheduling Videos

I've recently come across the scheduled videos feature on YouTube that lets you upload but not publish. Kind of handy and I've got two videos already scheduled for later in the week.

This isn't a waffling thread, so I wanted to ask if anyone here pre-records and schedules videos or do people just do them on the day/whenever they finish editing a video it instantly goes up?

I'm preferring the former method atm, gives me time to not have to worry about keeping to an upload schedule knowing two videos are already done & ready.

Also furthermore, do any of you stick religiously to a schedule of which days of the week your videos will be up?

I don't because I tend to find that's counter-productive in that it might mean you start scrambling for topics/things to talk about. That could end up making you produce low quality videos just to keep to a schedule. I'd rather not upload for a week and come up with something good than to produce lots of content too quickly, which is part of the reason I don't have a trailer for my channel actually.

So yeah, thoughts & practices guys?

Scheduling lets YouTube convert it too if you give it an hour or so before it schedules to go public, so the second it goes public its available in FHD etc :P

i upload as private, had loads ready to be released over the winter so channel was still live even though i wasnt riding

You can trust YouTube! It works fine, one of my vids just published 2 hours with no trouble :D

I schedule all my videos, I used to have about 30 scheduled till I removed them but currently have 6 scheduled. I do this because it gives youtube time to process them and gives me time if I decide I dont like something so I can remove and re-upload when re-edited. :) Works a treat.
I upload approx every 3 to 5 days

It's a handy tool if you need to use it. On a point you touched on, I don't believe you can plan creativity so if a vlogger plans to release X number of videos per Y time I think they risk uploading content for the sake of it rather than because something awesome happened :)

Definitely, couldn't have put it better myself.

I actually sometimes take the good bits out of my more talking-oriented videos, so that I can use those clips later in a "funny" or "this happened" style compilation.

Yeah that a cool idea, I do much the same sometimes.

I try to schedule my videos a week in advance, but lately I've had difficulties getting them ready in time. I try to get one or two ready as soon as the riding season is back and I've more time to Vlog. I had never any troubles with YouTube not releasing one of my videos.
I also try to upload a video every Sunday, but not more than one video per week so that the quality of the videos is good (at least in my opinion).

I schedule all my video's. Right now I only post once a week on Tuesday. I've been trying to keep that schedule for a while. I got 2 vlogs sitting schedule for the next two weeks. They post when they are suppose to and I've never had a problem with them.

I used to schedule, when i was doing my roadtrip series.
Id have time available on a sunday/monday etc and i would edit then... and upload too.

Ive tried it too for later uploads or really early morning releases to find if theres any difference in views...There isnt

I don't schedule... just because if I push it, I don't enjoy it. If I rush it, then the bad get put in place of the good. Just upload when I have something worth it - quality over quantity... a good rule to go by ;) ~

can you only schedule one video at a time? i've got one scheduled and uploaded two more but the scheduled option is grayed out.

Not more than one video per week is a good idea. When I have so many other channels to follow, watch and comment on I find that anyone who releases more than one a week has to have the extra vids missed by me in fairness to the other channels - otherwise I simply run out of time to watch.

Same boat Cranky, With alot of good channels out there, you kinda lean towards the bigger ones and miss out on the smaller growing channels. Just because theres too much. :(

I gradually unsubbed from the larger channels that upload multiple vids per week, in favour of spreading my love towards more channels. I get to view a better variety of styles and topics.
