Sad Day

How large are your videos? Is your content trimmed as much as possible, removing fluff e/t/c?

I had a video go up with the duration of 7:44 which came out to about 2.66GB. I do A LOT of cutting/trimming. I try to just include the most important stuff.

Just set your computer to auto sleep after so many hours if you don't want it running all day. Really though it's not going to hurt the computer. Think about it every office out there is full of computers that run constantly. It's not like it's left processing constantly it's just on at idle really.

You make a good point. My PC is a beast but I'm just paranoid about it and baby the hell out of it. I know at my job(Office Max), we leave our display PCs and laptops on 24/7.

How old is your router and wireless card  ? It could be a case of being an older standard, maybe  ~

Wireless card is brand new off Amazon. It's up-to-date. I'm just really far from my router so I don't get the best signal. On top of my mom's PC which is directly connected to the router and my iPhone being connected to the router too.

2.66gb is a big file how long are they? you could try changing your codec to one that compresses it abit more h.264 or something, might speed it up abit.

I try to keep my videos under 9 minutes. I'll give that a shot and see if it helps at all, thanks for the input :)

Well 60fps will be a maximum of double a 30fps clip of the same length, so if more than that then you might want to look at your settings.

...a range booster maybe :O ?

...and that monitor thing sounds like the monitor's having a problem to me :o ~

To follow up, I'm uploading a video as we speak with 30fps and it's only taking about 40 minutes to upload vs 60fps at 600+ minutes. So, I've diagnosed the long upload time because of the 60fps. Not sure if I'll keep recording and uploading with 60fps or go back to 30fps. I guess we will see!

Your upload time is really abnormal. My files are usually around 2 to 3 gb and it only takes like 30 minutes or less. You say you only have a weak wifi signal. Have you thought about getting a wifi range extender? They are really great and aren't that expensive.

I think my Sony Vegas settings weren't where they were supposed to be. I'm not sure.

I use sony vegas too you really have to play around with different rendering options to get the best outcome and upload times for youtube. The best option I have found is to render to a .wmv and make a custom render setting with everything set to best and 1080p blah blah blah. You can also search on youtube for best render settings in SV.

@Wanderlust I thought about a wifi range extender but I'm moving soon so I'll just have hard-wired in my new place rather than a wifi card.

@THvlogs yeah, lots of trial and error. I was using a variable bit rate when I should have been using a constant bit rate. That solved my issue!

honestly, i render all my videos to be 30fps. 60 is fine, but i feel like people watch more for the talking than for the viewing. that's the idea anyway.
