If it's like other Chinese cranks for many applications, both could be true. Some factories don't have great QC. Others are quite reliable. Luck of the draw unless you can narrow it down. But if it's a low cost engine you might be looking at quantity over quality and likely the less reliable manufacturers.I've heard a lot of different opinions from scooter guys about upgrading the crank. There's people who say you'll blow an engine in 3000 miles, and then there's guys who say they've run their bikes hard with a stock crank for years and haven't had problems. For now I'm keeping it stock, but that may change
