Ride Alone or Ride with people?

I like small group rides - with a few friends.

I have tried large group rides a couple of times but too bloody dangerous as it only needs 1 or 2 idiots to screw it all up. Plus any 'quick stop' ends up being 45 minutes....

I dislike large group rides... find them extremely boring!

A co-op ride is far more appealing.

Edit: seems I have already responded to this thread before :D

Well it depends. i ride by my self commuting most days now (my old riding buddys where at my last command and also lived near my neighborhood) and i do a lot of small group rides with random meetups when i can.

But i also lead medium and large group rides as the Command Motorcyle Safety Rep. last group had over 105 riders in it this new bunch i will be overseeing 9 commands with about 135 riders. we take a day off work twice a year or more (last place was monthly) for a group ride to check the bikes over, make sure ppl have gear, and help them learn to ride. i do not really enjoy these big rides but they are very helpful to new riders and promotes safety at the cost of one word day. i prefer to either road captian or tail gun the larger groups than be in them.

small groups 30 or less i'm good but i'm cautious of them if i've never rode with them before.

I'm a miserable git, so aside from my partner or a couple of people I know really well I tend to ride alone.

I'm not a quick rider (anymore) on the roads, and prefer to bumble along at my own pace. My partner is the same. All too often when riding with others people want to race off or mess about.

I can enjoy both solo, sight&viewgroups and faster group rides, depending on the mindset at the moment xD

For whatever groupride i do, i ride my own tempo.
If the that means some people want to race, fine, keep it racing. Just have to wait at the next left/right till the group is complete.

Always, and i mean always, ride your own tempo and not that of the group.
Last groupride i did i was the fastest, so most of the time i just layed back and chilled, and when a nice corner came i would up my pace, take the corner and lay back again.

This Right HERE! perfect! can't say it enough ride your ride! Always ride within our ability and comfort level even in group rides!

I prefer riding with friends - I often use handsfree comms to communicate with them on the ride - if we don't have compatible headsets then dischord or whatsapp audio can work well.

My commute is normally alone - but I always enjoy a chat with fellow riders at the lights, etc

Used to always ride with my brother and a few friends from high school. Now, I ride all on my own, since those guys have all moved away. Planning to take a rode trip to my brother's place in South Carolina, might not be till next year though.

Do you miss riding with People? I don't mean your brother or friends as individuals, but riding with company? Maybe you could join a local FB group and get to know some local riders?

Not really, I think now I would rather just ride alone. You don't have to coordinate with anyone, and you can just get on the bike and go. I think with vlogging now too, being alone is just better.

Yeah I agree. Vlogging is never just get on and go. It always involving batteries, set up, syncing and ask that jazz. Technology just never works as it should and needs sorting out. I always feel bad if with people because of the faffing. It's sometimes so nice to just be alone, do your thing!

But, it's nice to have fellow riders to have that comrade. My friends growing up I've all drifted apart from, but I was always a bit of a loner and socially awkward. My friends growing up I didn't really fit in with, they were kind of dicks to me often and we never really had anything in common. It's only for classic minis and my bike that I have friends now. Good people that I value. So for me, I really enjoy the social aspect of it

I guess I get enough of the comrade from giving a wave to other bikers on the road.:D

Primarily ride alone owing to the commute. Did have some biking buddies nearby when I first started out, motovloggers too! But, life got in the way and biking wasn't going to be for them for the foreseeable. Have a few other mates that ride now, good friends. But, we were never able to agree a date and time + Life again!

Tried some local bike meets nearby, but I am bit socially inept so didn't make lasting friendships. Only really been to Mr Fish meets, but get on well with people there so thats great for me.

I one went on a ride with Midlands Riders (no longer strictly Midlands based!) - there must have been 300+ bikers that morning - very overwhelming for me at the time. Public seemed to love us. Other traffic probably hated us! We rode out as 3, came back (half way) as a 5 after meeting some like minded bro's there. That was pretty cool. Really enjoyed that.

I like that point actually, particularly as we're all pretty laid back and no one really wants to impose anything on anyone. Why nothing ever gets done. Beauty of riding alone as you say. You're your own boss
