Replying To Trolls

Should you respond to negative comments, or just leave them?

So I'm a bit of a newbie, I've only been motovlogging for a couple of months, but I've just gotten to the point where my vids have started to attract the attention of trolls.

I've never tried that before, and I find myself fighting the urge to reply sacarstically. I'm guessing I'm not the only one, what do you usually do?
 
There's been some cracking wind ups of trolls, suck them in a chew them up while blatantly not taking it seriously, gets quite amusing. They always end up telling you you're a bell end before they finally give up :)
 
I leave them, I don't reply or delete them.

The fact that I have a big enough impact on someone that they feel the need to whine like a ***** (publicly or privately ;)) genuinely makes my day!

I read somewhere that the upside of replying to trolls, is that it gives a view for every time they have to go to the video to respond. But then again, it seems a bit like a waste of energy

True, it may have been on the old (pre google+) days. Although I still reply on the vids, coz replying through google+ and my email always ends up giving me issues
 
You can reply through youtube.com/comments

Or you can use the notification popup depeding on if that lets you reply direct.

Exactly! Why not have a little fun with it? Troll the troll so they get riled up when you didn't.
 
Once I get annoyed with them after having played a bit I ask them to keep on commenting as they are improving my ratings on Youtube every time they comment. They leave very soon after that.
 
I had a very brief intro to trolls in my first couple o videos and I just deleted their comments. you could tell they were trolling straight away so I chose not to give their comments the light of day.
 
They probably troll multiple videos every day. If you never respond they will forget they even posted on your channel (unless they subscribe). Or if you have the time, just play with them. They want you to lose your temper, so always reply with calm and calculated responses. Take the high ground, that really annoys their little brains.
 
Just remember this, and let it roll man. Someone hating on you, on your video, is only getting more people to watch your video and giving you more stats with youtube.

I ignore them. There is no point to argue with trolls.
 
Some you can play with and it can be fun. Some are just there to seek attention and will get super happy when they get some, and then go on and on ... and on...
Those ones I block and ignore cos I know that's what will hurt them most :)
 
I respond to them. Luckily I haven't had too many on this channel yet but in other streams I've had some troll attention. And like others have said, I've it leads into a flame war then all is doing is generating traffic to my stuff! So I have fun with it. Always sarcastic, never aggressive, never rude, just cheeky. They HATE it! !
 
I don't mind the trolls as I see them as a form of entertainment. Sometimes I respond with a smartass comment back to them and other times I just ignore them. I depends on my mood at the time. I have not really had too many of them though.

Cool thanks, didn't know that. I'm usually on my iphone, so maybe that's why I haven't explored that :-)
