Removing GoPro adhesive mount from helmet

Just a quick question guys.

I've already googled it and got a few answers, such as using a hair drier to head it up before prying it with a squew driver, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that were less likely to damage my helmet.
Wondering if anyone had ever taken the adhesive mount off a helmet before and what they did.

I used a wallpaper scraper as it was flat and less likely to scratch it. Turned out fine but had to be careful and do it slowly.

What about soaking it in water, after several hours of torrential rain my drift sticky pad became loose.

I've worn the camera and just generally ridden in quite a few storms and hail storms, still stuck quite strong on.

GoPro stuff seems to be better alround to drift :lol:

Hot air and pry away. That VHB adhesive is good stuff, but given enough heat it will turn to goo. Just go slow and be methodical.

I took 3 GoPro mounts of my mountain bike helmet with nothing more than a butter knife, i put it under on corner and wiggled it in and up, all 3 mounts came of, no glue or scratches on the helmet either

That's what I've done as well. I just treated the pad like it was a sticker. Get one corner up and slowly work it till the whole thing is off.

Hair dryer, dont use screw driver just heat it up quite abit & you should be able to pull it offf with your hand.

Attach the GoPro mount & use it for leverage then clean the surface area aftwards.

"Just a suggestion"....what about using a lighter briefly, to melt the adhesive but not too much that it marks your helmet?!

Why not just use a hair dryer, no fire involved & will grt hot enough to melt the adesive.

Hmm... I have a lighter here, or a hair dryer in the other room...

This is all going to come down to how lazy I am.

baby oil ... drip on all sides of pad let soak for about 5 minutes or 10 ... then hair dryer then pry.... lol sounds silly ...

White spirit just drip it on to the pad, it'll soon come away.

Used a hair dryer in the end.

Was still quite tough to come off though, but hasn't left any marks

For future reference... I've been through several mounts trying to get the position just right. Doh. The best way to remove is by use of a firm large plastic ruler. Not for measuring but for gently prying...

Try hot soapy water and a credit card or top up phone card (<do you still get them?). Used to have stickers on my bass and this was the only way to get them off without scratching it. WD40 is supposed to be good at getting the sticky stuff off.
