Remain Anonymous or Not? Benefits, Experiences?

Jst looking for ideas about remaining anonymous. I'm just going to start vlogging soon and wanted to get some opinions from you guys with experience either way. Are the anonymous people really benefiting from being that way? Are the known people really having trouble with anyone? Is being recognized that big a problem? A friend of mine is a minor famous person that is recognized 10-20% of the times we go out and it hasn't been a problem for him really, maybe the opposite actually(free drinks, women, etc.)
I live in a city/area of about 1 million people but after a handful of vlogs and comments from local people I'm sure anyone could figure out who I am and where I live anyway.
Cops....well thats another question all together. I wouldn't consider myself a stunter or reckless in any way but I'm sure that there will be some speeding, lane splitting and other minor type offences. Recommendations on posting offences? Blurring speedos and plates seems like possibly a waste of time.
I know laws are different here in Canada but any and all ideas would be great.
Thanks!

The cops haven't got time to watch all YouTube vids looking for minor traffic offenses. I've only heard of a couple of occasions where the rider was a little bit 'extreme' and people have reported it to the police. Just don't be a dick and you'll be fine. Anonymity is entirely up to you. I don't think people really care if motovloggers show their face or not, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the free drinks, women, etc. :D

That sounds about what I thought. I really don't expect or really want any extra attention from anyone. I not ambitious enough to put enough effort into it anyway.
Thanks for the response.

Well me, i love a good Mystery, but really, i just dont want ANYone to connect the dots to me, or enough to try n duplicate me (I.D theft)

As far as breaking the Law while riding....after finishing paying off the (just under) $10000 in fines....Im VERY likely to speed, cut, etc etc etc.
But with that, i dont care, coz of Time limitations on those sorts of vids, leaving it for the 12mnths before posting, just for the statutory of limitations law.

Otherwise, as i said, i love a good mystery. One day ima getn a FULL 'CrashTestDummy' body suit :)

Cheers.

haha it ruins it for some of the vloggers, after i found out what m13 looked like i just stopped watching aha didnt feel the same

o_O .... ..... ..... ..... :rolleyes::confused: ... The face thing...

Ok Codsy bro! .. Whatever helps you sleep at night! :p

Bahahahaha

It is an interesting topic. Some share everything some share barely anything. I think anonymity does add a bit of mystery

some say i overshare on certain things... like preferring itchy balls to a foggy visor!! ... lol

I started not showing the face as a joke. First off, you dont really see the face at all (unless reflected in a mirror). Then, as the only vids I had facing back at me were obviously me riding with the helmet on, came "stig-like" idea that my face WAS the helmet.
I ended up "disrobing" for a google hangout, as sitting at my computer with the helmet on was getting too hot.

Now... I shouldnt. I made a vid of me getting caught speeding by a front-facing speed camera. (no license plate. Hah! Eat THAT cops!).
Then a a bike meet, I got a cop friend of mine that mentioned that video.
And he said my photo was at his station (among other bikers), with the traffic brigade. He did keep quiet about my vid (and about knowing exactly who I am) though :D

Then again, I might simply give it up, as SEVERAL subscribers have discovered (through several, different means) my real face and other info. Even with my trying to hide it, and knowing what I'm doing.

One way was:
I said the name of my bike (Lot Sot Key). He searched for the bike on fuelly, and found it.
Then he saw the profile name of the bike, which was my real name.
Jump to linkedin, and he has where I work, my work phone #, foto, and resume.... (all of which I must have as public due to company policy).

After fixing that fuelly security hole, another user got me through facebook.
From a couple of posts, he correctly guessed which user was my wife (posting things like "my poor prince" on my kid's crash video, for example).
Then, on her profile, it shows my personal FB profile, and on ONE of her public fotos there is a photo of me and her.

I kinda consider it if you find it out with some detective work, you deserve to know it. There is no way to stay anon permenantly. A seriously dedicated person can always discover it. I just do it now for the gag, seriously.

Oh! And for the "you look NOTHING like I imagined" thing.

I am old school internet so I really don't like revealing who I am but the internet is so vast now that I am probably linked to several old accounts of some website. But living in Hawaii it is almost impossible to hide who you are. I've had people come up to me and say, "hey you the guy on youtube right?!" lol

I have been quite interested in this, so I'm glad it was a relatively new topic post so I didn't repost.

I personally don't try to hide my face, but I don't go out of my way to show it either. Plenty of my followers know what I look like because of my non-pinkturbo facebook page (that I used a TON before motovlogging to comment on other motovloggers lol) and I'm pretty good about not breaking any laws or anything of that nature. I have gotten quite a few creepers on my FB page, but it's pretty easy to give 'em the ol' block and ban when they get too "heavy breather stalked you all the way from youtube" crazy. :p LOL
