Rear Wheel Removal (on a shaft driven bike)

The first time I did this, I found it a little bit daunting as I was aware the shaft drive was full of oil.
I put this video together last time I removed the rear wheel in the hope it takes that worry away from anyone else attempting this for the first time!

As you can see, it isn't difficult, just a little bit awkward.

This was interesting to watch, as I also have a shaft drive bike. And I have never actually taken a wheel off of it, myself.

obviously other bikes may vary, but the principle will be roughly the same. You just need to be careful with the shaft gearing as it is in oil so can leak!

Even though it could help with avoiding the oil spill, I don't think it would be sensible draining the reducer before. Then the leakage would not be quite as easily visible, and a change or replace the seal would not be taken. Or am I wrong?

On the Moto Guzzi, there is no need to drain it as it is sealed. If however you are removing it to maintain the shaft/shaft seals, then I imagine it would be a lot easier to drain it once removed and also allows you to see any seaping from seals too as you suggested!

I would chuck anything that isn’t a super sport in the bin to be honest. It solves non-standard issues like strange wheel changes
