Primary Promotion Techniques

Hey everyone, so I know this topic has probably been done to death and if there is an existing post, someone please link it.

Just taking a census of the primary methods for which you all post content...I have developed a fairly complex, and somewhat cumbersome method of getting my newer videos to the unsubscribed. This process has resulted in a pretty large spike in subs over the last week, however it seems like it comes in spurts. What procedures have all of you tried and to what degree did it work in pursuit of getting exposure for your channels? Ive seen a few motovloggers with fairly lackluster content explode in subs over a few weeks and it has left me pretty bewildered considering a lot of it is clickbait, and generally bland dialogue.

Thanks in advance!

Forums and Facebook groups are great ways to get some foot traffic on your videos.

This forum is pretty dead for getting views on vlogs because we all do the same thing, but at least it is a good way to talk with other vloggers. Hit up other local or model specific bike forums, or if you have certain topics you can post on a Facebook group. My last Grom offroading videos were posted on the FB Grom group.

Just basically anywhere where people will appreciate the content of your videos without being spammy.

Agree with Chix, This place doesnt get you views, But it gets you information

I use alittle reddit, little facebook, instagram and then tags.

Whats your technique?

The usual social media, FB, IG. I don't go around throwing spam cards, but I do giveaway stickers to those that recognize & ask for it. To be honest I'm not really doing a lot of self/channel promotion, sometimes people just happen to stumble upon it.

Thanks for the information everyone, I tried some tag and title tuning on my last vid and it has gotten more views than any other video so far. I'm also going to take into advisement the model specific forums, gotta keep branching out!

Basically I've tried it all with not a huge amount of success.

I've come to conclusion that if you want subs in the motovlog world you basically have to act like a dickhead and cater to the 12-14 year old audience, and use heaps of click bait.

If you want real subs that you can have a actual meaningful conversation with it's a slow but much more rewarding process.

If you just want to see you views spike and feel better about what you are doing a couple of bucks on youtube advertising works well.

You are right man...I don't want to turn into what I hate most...Subs numbers dont matter, its the quality of them which does. I know for a fact that most of my current subs are active and do watch my content. After all the advertising I have done, it only equates to about %10 of my viewership...everything else comes from subs and from recommendations. I should probably stop trying so hard lol.

I think advertising yourself is a high effort, low reward thing. Its about being in the right place at the right time for views and views can translate to subs but its easy to force yourself to be in the right place at the right time. Theres a reason that massive you tubers all talk about the same topic at the same time. So, if you want more views/subs try talking about what people are watching at that time. Want views this week? Make an election video.

For what its worth people who work in marketing have a lot of love for Snap Chat right now, lots of interaction with users for the least $. Never tried it myself but their #'s looked pretty good

I basically make sure my videos are tagged up, post on FB and Twitter with relevant hashtags, and post online on a few forums. That's about it for me really at the moment. I'm having fun seeing my channel grow with the tight knit communities I'm a part of. I've been getting more and more comments as well which has me super stoked.

I'm following this with interest. I'm so new that I have almost no following yet! I'd like to get my vids in front of more eyeballs, as all of us do, but I agree that numbers aren't everything.

Good call on tagging specific models and events. Chix does a lot about her Grom, and I'll bet fellow Grom riders eat that right up. Many groups and events have a FB presence - throwing a single or occasional link to a vid of their group or event is interesting and falls short of spamming.

Yeh I'm pretty sure a lot of my subscribers are there because i ride an MT07 which is a pretty popular bike these days. The rest are all there because i crashed.

Well I don't want to shamelessly plug my video in here, but I actually just talked about what absolutely NOT to do while trying to promote your channel. Give it a watch if you're interested.

As far as what you should or can do to get your channel some more exposure ... well aside from using forums and FB you just have to let your vlogs live their own life on YouTube. People will stumble upon them and hopefully give them a try. Also interacting with other vloggers and building relationships that way helps a lot to gain more loyal subs.

Yeah man, absolutely...it almost seems pointless for me to try and push advertisement because of the relatively low response I get back....to prove this point I checked my analytics and have seen that only 12% of all my content is the result of external views. I see a huge amount of spamming done on Facebook and G+ and it seems like it does not really work for everyone...or maybe its just me.

What really works for me is being engaged and networking with people. I like to actually watch people's content, and offer feedback...Plus it is way too hard to wrangle mass spamming of different social media outlets. What escapes me is how some people with relatively cringe worthy content have a rapidly expanding sub base....so weird...or maybe I'm just a Hater lol.

I wonder how you could use snap chat as a Motovlogger though, isnt a mostly selfie type program? I tend to prefer using instagram to promote some of my content.
