Oh No! A Dislike On My Vids.

Hey guys, i dont think this is a big deal but i wanted to post on it anyways. I posted two new vids last week talking about how people can start riding. I had like 14 views on it when i noticed a dislike. I was like wtf! 14 views and 1 dislike. That doesn't make any sense lol. Also my other video had 6 views and 1 dislike, I'm assuming the same person but why... :(

Of course i dont think the vid was bad so i just wanted to ask.
Do you guys get video trolls who go around disliking your vids?
On average, how many dislike to views do you get?
How do dislikes affect your youtube videos?

They hate us cuz they ain't us. Having haters means your doing something right keep posting stuff and the likes will come. That's what i tell myself.

It's normal to have dislikes. Some trolls just like to click that thumbs down, it makes them feel happy knowing they probably got someone's nerve (you in this case) for no reason at all.

Unless you made a blunder in your video like bad recording/audio, or something that made people outraged, then you'll see more dislikes pour in. Otherwise it will those one or two little trolls there, unless of course for some odd reason you are a troll magnet and have a huge fan base of trolls. LoL.

You got a dislike?

Congratulations! You've made it as a vlogger!!!!! :D

Yep, this.

If you don't have a dislike you're not doing well enough, and it actually boosts your videos search performance :)

It's only people viewing your videos for a short time that decreases your search performance from what I can gather. This makes sense as if you have a misleading thumbnail/title/tags then people won't be viewing what they expected and the search terms that resulted in your video being shown are incorrect.

I was just listening to a podcast this morning where they were talking about how useless the dislike button on YouTube is. I don't know why they even have it, honestly. It doesn't provide any sort of creative feedback whatsoever to content creators. One of the guys on the podcast suggested that they should have a little form that pops up when someone tries to dislike a video that says "Why did you dislike this video" and they have to fill out a minimum number of characters and submit an actual reason before the dislike counted. I like that idea. I think it'd make people more accountable. That or the content creator should actually be able to see the YouTube ID of the people who liked/disliked each of their videos, so if they had a dislike troll, they could then just ban that person from their channel.

On my non-moto related channel I have approximately 3000 subs, and I get random dislikes all the time. I don't pay attention to them at all. I'll take creative criticism in the form of constructive comments all day long, but if I get troll comments I just delete them and ban the person from the channel. Ignore the dislikes, it's just people with nothing better to do.

I don't think the ID reveal would work, however it's probably within Google's grasp to pick up dislike patterns. There is no reason at all to go dislike every video someone makes. If it's that bad, then you should stop watching that person's videos. The idea of a littlw feedback box is good. It could contain things like "misleading title" "racist" or "offensive", then it's worthwhile. Then if there were sufficient reasons appearing, if the video is truly guilty of that, YT could issue a warning.

RJ gets quite a number of disklikes. I suspect these are mainly trolls or jealousy or in one case, offence because of his raucous exhaust.

They would have to do the same for likes then or you would get a massively inflated number of likes as they're easier to give.

couldn't agree more. A reason for dislikes would be nice. but at the end of the day like some of you have said, its just part of putting yourself out there.

there seems to be a few guys cruising the channels , disliking vids.

luckily they have to put in alot of effort to get more than one dislike

Haters gonna hate... They hatus cuz they anus...

I am not one of you guys either... and the only one I can hate for that is myself. Working on step one to become one of you SOON... >:]

Anyway, I get them too. It is a sign you made it. Unless the dislikes outweigh the likes, then you have to go ahead and look at your content and see what you can improve. Copy the more well known vloggers, but do put your own spin on things!

its hard to get likes starting out i think. I guess ill start saying like and subscribe at the end of the vids.

It's funny you say that but when I get too many "like, comment & subscribe" comments in a video is one of the few things that make me dislike a video.
