Noob quesstion: Conversion time 80+hours???

Ok, I've got a roughly 10 minute video. Nothing super special about it. I use the free version of Video Pad as the editor. I'm working on a macbook with a "2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo" processor and 4GB memory. The conversion time from the video pad file to .avi is usually around 1 hour per minute. This last video though is clocking in at 80 estimated hours! What the heck is going on. What are your usual conversion times?

An hour a minute? holy damn! I usually convert 10 to 14 minute 720p videos in under an hour. I also convert to MP4.

I usually convert my raw files to a .MP4 output file. It takes me approx 40 minutes to render a 10 minute video at 1080p 60fps in sony vegas. I don't know what's causing your slow conversion, but something seems wrong

Wow. Ok. Yeah something is majorly wrong. I can't go to MP4 on the free version of video pad, which is a major pain because Mac reasons anyway. But yeah...I might be switching editing programs because video pad seems to have issues running on my Mac anyway. I can't believe I've been waiting 9 hours and this time 80 for a single video!!!

Yikes, that's some serious render time....

Even my longer videos only take a couple hour at locked bitrate settings...Normally I'll just hit render and walk away

i have an i5 quad core 8gb of ram and it roughly takes 5 mins for a 10 min video

About the same for me. However editing is jumpy as hell but rendering,, no issue

Ok. This seems like maybe a computer problem then. I will research this some more. It is good to have a point of comparison though. Thanks guys!
