And they STILL cant get the formfactor right! God I wish they would offer it in a bullet can form.

Damn that really sucks....I just purchased the hero 3 black edition...I should have know...it was on sale.

Actually I prefer this form factor, it allows the use of many mounts that just aren't as good on a bullet cam.

For example...chest mount, head mount, wrist mount and believe it or not helmet mounts where the mount is at the front of the helmet.

GoPro kept this very quiet. It was convenient timing considering Garmin VIRB is soon to be released, and that surely will go into competition directly with GoPro.

What I like about this release is they've issued the soft lens, the Black edition has great image quality but it's too soft and you need to slightly increase sharpness digitally in some areas. However the Low light auto adjust, could've been a software update for the Black edition as well. To be fair all it does is lower the frame rate when in low light conditions.

Also it looks like they've improved the case buttons, I've had so many problems with this damn case and fiddling with the camera. The wi-fi remote is useless if you don't want wi-fi turned on.

You might want to get that checked out... :P

I'm currently deciding between whether I should get the 3+ Black or 3+ Silver. I don't know the nighttime performance difference, that's a big decision factor for me.

And it brings absolutely nothing new to the table besides 4k video. They still stick with Wifi for the remote which is pointless, they could've used a proprietary 800/900MHz transceiver. Using a protocol so complicated on a radio band that is nowadays clogged up with other devices is not the best decision for something as simple as a remote controller.

This was just a revision of a previous model hence the price staying the same.

Why utilise a second wireless technology when they can all be controlled by wi-fi, saving space and a little bit of money?

Space and money savings are negligible in a consumer product that costs less than half the MSRP to make. You can find dual band radio chips that use the same real estate as the wifi only used in the camera.
"Wifi" is an extremely high level protocol made for network computing, it's not a consumer product control protocol. For that use you can develop simpler solutions that actually work. Even bluetooth could've been a better option.
Drift used a dumb as a rock remote and guess what? It works, unlike the wifi remote on the hero 3.

I still don't get why they don't come up with a complete camera solution instead of crippling the hardware as they see fit. There's no reason to remove the mic input on the cheaper models, no reason to avoid rewriting the firmware to add new features to the older cameras (the drift 1080 can do most of the ghost's unique features, except for the 2 way remote, it only requires the instructions to do so).

In my opinion wifi was a better choice, better range and pretty much every device I own has wifi capabilities even my printer. I've had no issues with the remote not working, I don't even have to be near the camera to use it I believe they say a maximum of 600ft. This is amazing for those who use the camera on drones.

I have had a few problems with the remote......when i turn everything off then try to turn everything back on the remotes looks like its searching for the camera for a long time, when in fact it is working just not displaying....im not sure what the issue is.....i can start a video with it "searching for the camera" then when i hit the button again to stop the record....the display goes back to normal and it shows that i took the video.....this happens occasionally...not all the time... but other than that i tested the 600 feet....im not exactly sure how far away i was but it goes pretty damn far....i was impressed.
