New 360 Camera Endeavor

Thought I'd try something new. Haven't had a chance to shoot much footage, planning on getting some today on my ride home from work. The comparison vs my GoPro. I can't wait to try it in my car and jet skiing!

that looks awesome, looking forward to see what it spits out.
What camera is it? can't be a true 360* camera by the looks of it.

Can you not fix it to the top of your helmet?

Top mount tends to look silly. Because of the silhouette. this way it also lets the viewer see more of the bike I guess.

Pretty sure that orb will look a little silly no matter where it's mounted. But 360 video is still awesome, even with a wart growing out of your helmet. And, honestly, it's no worse than a blocky GoPro.

Its all about silhouettes when both the helmet and the camera is black.

This was also a good warmup for me drawing today.

Erm, why not mount it to the handlebars? i dont like the look of it in front of the visor, it will also allow people to see you. You will look like plonker with that on the top of your helmet.

The front and rear view is great, I thought it was a camera that as a viewer I could control, like the one on face book in the fast jet. Oh and I love loomies as well might even pop down for a brew today.

People get confused on the 360 part. It is 360 degrees on one axis. So what that means is it is like you are looking forward standing up and turn a full 360 degrees around. In the interactive video you can pan around 360 degrees, plus look above you.

The camera obviously can't see under itself so that is why I angled it like I did. Yes, it can kinda see my helmet, but it gets what's going on in front and all around me while showing the bike controls.

I didn't mount it to the bike because of the Duke's vibrations. Plus I like to look around and I want the camera to capture that. I might mount it to my Grom's tank to show the rider more.

Oh, the camera is a 360 Fly BTW.

Didn't get a chance to edit or upload any of the footage. I got some of me riding around in traffic and testing a jet ski for my fiance's work.

This isn't how the footage actually looks, but when I open it in VLC (not in the program that decodes it and makes it interactive) it gives it the fisheye effect and shows everything at once. Kinda cool.

So it's just like a old fashion fish eye lens.

Might look at one at some stage. Kinda like the look of them.

Well, I haven't been able to edit any good bike footage. But I did get some neat footage offroading last weekend. If you have an Android phone it is really cool when you move it around and look up, behind you, side to side, etc. Really cool, I look forward to this tech getting better.

I think the front and back footage is better, would make great to be mounted down low on the bike, I like the shots where you can see the tyre or like its almost on the road itself, having it for different directions will make well for lots of additional angles without the need to have numerous cameras all over your bike.

^ Exactly. I've found that while the helmet stuff captures a lot the action it interferes with the interactiveness of the video. I've experimented on the side by side and my jet ski and mounting the 360 camera to the vehicle is much better. I did a little write-up on my blog and ended with my main thought: The 360 Fly’s quality might be less than a GoPro, but the ease of capturing every moment makes the camera absolutely worth it. I would much rather see my wipe out, smoky drift, or big air in non HD than not capture the action at all because the camera was facing the wrong way!
