New 2015 Gopro Hero, Does Anyone Use It?

Hi,

I currently run the hero 2 and this video quality leaves a little to be desired and my budget is tight. The new Gopro HERO retails for about $180 Canadian and seem like a decent upgrade.

What I want to know if anyone has used this camera with an external mix, I see it has the USB on the backside but cant find out much more.

Having gone through a cycle of GoPro's, thats a decent entry level camera with 1080p 30fps, 720 with 60fps. Pretty straight forward if youre not color grading and needing RAW White Balance and ProTune.

Do you mean the 2014 HERO?

If yes, I run 2 of them as extra cameras and they're great for that. You cannot wire up a mic to them though so you need another audio recording device if it's your main camera.

Im assuming thats the Hero 4? I use Hero 4 Silver. Great camera. Swapped a couple times under warranty in the first 2 weeks due to a rattle in them (still has it but not as bad) but otherwise its been what I needed. Looking at a go pro session as an extra camera for additional angles.

It's not, it's a different model.

Go with the Hero4 Silver if you don't need the extra features of the Black. Get the original GoPro mini USB microphone adapter, skeleton housing, external microphone of your choice, and you should be set on your motovlog adventures.

I'd skip the base hero model. Should be plenty 3+ black/silver's on the market

I didnt like the Hero Basic model, it stuck on housing, and can only record 1080p 30fps. no external, no extra battery or bacpacs for it.
