I feel ya on the break in period. With the weather lately I have had minimal opportunity to really go out and ride. I have yet to hit the 400 mile mark and I've owned the bike since October. The next sunny day I should be able to pass 500 miles. After that, a quick oil change and then regular maintenance.
Remember to treat those new tires as though you are riding in rain and ice for about 100 miles. When you are dropping some G's for a new bike it is funny how closely you follow the dealer recommendations and the manufacturer guidelines.
