You didnt over react, infact you should have given him a serve about no helmet... you have the NHS over there... You'll be paying for his skull patching. While your at it, give him a serve about lycra lol.
I didnt see your complaint at 3:00 though... If he pulled out and you hit him it would be his fault. I wouldnt have turned in front of you.

In many areas bicyclists are encouraged to ride 'as if they were cars' (in response to your question as to why he doesn't use the sidewalk).

That said, even cars should be checking their blind spot behind them! lol.

You'd think a guy on a bicycle would be a bit more careful. It's one thing for a soccer mom in an SUV putting on her makeup to do that. Heck, she'd probably not even notice she ran over you! But for a guy on a bicycle... you could've just as easily BEEN that soccer mom in an SUV. If they were distracted, he'd be a red smear across the highway!

Even when i slowed right down and was waving them across for a good while! Just not paying attention!

In the UK they are encouraged (and SHOULD) use the red cycle paths made for them. If you look in a few other of my vides you will see they spent a few weeks putting it in! But for him to say "its crap" Really FUCKED me off! But the part when i said "Its to save your life" And his reply was "Is it", i really did want to smack the twat!

But thanks all for watching!

I do think you over-reacted in a few of these situations.

There was no need to interact with the cyclist who had the courtesy to just smile at you and didn't swear at you at all despite your provocations - it was as if you just wanted an argument and he became the brunt when he wasn't causing you any problems.

The woman in the car in various lanes, I fully understand your questioning of which lane, I do it too, but it soon became clear she was in an unfamiliar area.

And the guy you waved across could have been expecting you to carry on so may not have been looking at you, but waiting for you to go past before considering the road ahead for an opportunity. We all do it.

I was not "Baiting" him. His comment at the brand new cycle path for HIS OWN SAFETY being "Crap" and then questioning "Is it" when i say its to save his life! This was not COURTEOUS. This was ARROGANCE!

You can not say that she was in an unfamiliar area as you cant possibly know! Yes she may be, but she may not! But that is beside the point! LANE DISCIPLINE! When do you straddle a lane at a junction or RBout? NEVER! you stay in YOUR lane the lane that directs you to the correct and relevant direction! you get in lane as soon as you can, not when you feel like it!

As to waving the car in front of me over! How in hell could you misunderstand me slowing down, sitting upright, my arm out and waving them across! The only way i could have made that more obvious is if i had a HUGE NEON SIGN! If they were not looking then they really should have been!

Im thinking you should watch it again! But thanks for the comment!

You asked if people thought you over-reacted. I did. And maybe you are over-reacting now?

I watched your vid a couple of times, and still thought it. Just my opinion, but there's no need to shout.

Not trying to shout. Just putting emphasis on it!

A debate can be heated, loud and I dare say aggressive without over reaction!

Happy to debate, but not sure you really want to with someone thinks you could or should have handled things differently

Good to know the UK has those. Wish we did in the US! (Well, maybe some of the big cities do). Always a pain to come around a tight corner and for there to be a bunch of cyclists in the road. Perfectly legal for them! Everywhere except where there is a 'minimum' speed limit (interstate highways mostly)

But, do put yourself in his shoes. What if they made a 'motorbike only' lane. Off to the side, away from everyone else. Sure it's for your own safety, but it might be extremely inconvenient! I WANT my bike to be thought of as a car. Because I have as much right to the lane as any car does! I'd hate for that to change.

I realize a powered motorcycle capable of going as fast as a car (if not much faster!) is a lot different than a bicycle, but the idea is the same.

Judging by the lack of helmet, I'm not sure this guy was concerned about safety.

AFTER ALL, laws related to speeding, doing wheelies, lane splitting, modifying your sportbike, governing your sportbike, etc., etc,. are all in the name of 'safety' aren't they? I mean whether you agree with them or not, that was the intention that the legislative bodies had, right?

Hence the whole thing about 'safety' discussions. Everyones threshold of 'safety' is different. What's obvious to one is stupid to another!

Just sayin' :P

Indeed! However. If they made a motorcycle lane....... i would definitely use it! only motorcycles! no cars, buses or pushbikes! Damn right id use it, I'd fucking love it!

@TheNovice - the idea of a debate is to discuss/argue differing points of view and opinion. If i agreed with you or you with me (I know same thing) then it would be an agreement not a debate.

Dont just give up, if you believe something and mean it put your point across and argue it! I love an argument/debate!

Cheers MrJiffy <thumbsup>.

I've done you a video response with my views.

I think I left my view well enough known in the comments section :P But I think all the comments, especially the ones trying to start a 'man-hunt' and wishing accidents upon you are just immature and a whole lot worse than what you said :)

A cyclist isn't required to use a cycle lane and is well within his rights to take a dominant position on the road if they feel it is safer for them. In this case, he indicated that he was going to be turning. We didn't see which direction, but if it was to the right, then he was in the right position. Also, it was clear the cycle lane had obstructions and that car drivers pulling out stopped over it, so I would probably have to agree with him that it is crap.

We expect respect and understanding from other road users when we are riding in ways that they might think are incorrect (eg. filtering). I think it's only fair that we respect others, too. I can understand a bit of shouting and getting annoyed if someone does something stupid that puts your life in danger, but I don't think it's called for at all for this guy.
