So I'm defiantly one who is a bit on the "poor" side of things (i.e. being in college lol!), so I opted out and got something cheap.
I recently just picked up the SJCAM SJ4000 WiFi from Amazon for about $80 and all I can say, is that I am by far incredibly impressed with the little camera!
The quality on a side by side comparison between a GoPro and the SJ is near equal. Only difference is that the SJ likes to have a bit of a bluer tint to it. The SJ though still does 1080p at 30 fps and looks fine to me!
Some nice little features of the SJ over the Go Pro (and older go pros) is the addition of a LCD screen, WiFi connectivity to your phone, on device settings, on device playback and speaker and more that I'm probably forgetting! What I also like with it, the size and case are very similar to the GoPro style and it is compatible with Go Pro mounts. So a useful feature if you were to want a cheap secondary to add to your GoPro arsenal.
Some downfalls of the device though run around audio. It only records through an internal mic that is quite poor on the quality. So, as an alternative, I just record audio through my phone then match it up in editing later.
So between all mounts and accessories, I only spent about $100! And according to most of my friends, they can't even tell the difference!
