While on a #motocamping trip in the Appalachian Mountains near the Tennessee/North Carolina state line I was visiting an overlook.

It was right as Hurricane Helene's leading edge of the storm system was hitting the area. This video is facing the series of mountains that is the Appalachian Trail in the area. I set up a time lapse not knowing what it captured showed how the rain event would cause devastating flooding in the area with the part of North Carolina suffering much worse damage from flash floods and landslides.

You can see the clouds coming from the east get shredded and tossed on the eastern slopes only to form again in the valley and disappear again as they are lifted against the mountain I am on.

In retrospect, it still amazes me how something so beautiful can lead to so much destruction and sadness.

I got another video coming out later that is not as macabre.

This is why it sometimes irritates me a little bit, if some people end the calls with a common phrase, that translates roughly as: "Everything beautiful to you!". So many times I have felt like answering: "Do you know how beautiful a hydrogen bomb explosion is? I still would not wish it to you..." :D
