My Channel Isn't Taking Off...

As someone who has had a fairly successful (but now shutdown) gaming channel I can tell you it's down to several factors that affects the visibility of your channel.

1) Posting regular content at regular intervals - I try to post a video every saturday or sunday night.
2) The tags, title and description of your videos is hugely important - Try to keep the tags relevant and descriptions/title somewhat unique
3) Engage in the community - Like others have said, comment and share and otherwise get involved with other vloggers, maybe if someone likes you enough then they'll hit you up with a shout-out and help boost your channel numbers.
4) Interesting or relevant content - Have a sit and think about what YOU enjoy when watching other vloggers, then try to base your vlogs off of what they do. Some vloggers are raucous and crass (YourPalsChrisAndAl) some are silent road-warriors (RoyalJordanian) and others are informative and educational (RoadCraftNottingham) Try to create your own style and run with it :)

I'm still building my channel up from the ground, it's hard to break into the community of MotoVlogging because almost everyone is doing the same thing, just slightly different (Whereas my old gaming channel had a bit of a unique clique that it appealed to - Namely WoWers trying to learn how to play Balance Druids)

Keep knuckling down and recording when you can, find your style and run with it and hopefully your channel will start to pick up momentum :)

As a last tip, whatever you do, do NOT pay for youtube/google advertising, I can personally guarantee that they will target your ads in the most useless of locations (Put it this way, if you're based in the UK, they'll send Ads for your channel to India, Russia, Mongolia and fuck-knows-where-else) It's a waste of money and you won't gain any real viewers from it.

Hope this helps.

Nelo

Hmm... I'm definitely not paying for ads, I'm not that desperate. But that makes me wonder how many motovloggers out there DO pay for ads...

I try to get an upload once a week, usually on Sunday, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Discovered that Google AdWords cr@p myself ~_~ ... thought I'd give it a try and see what would happen - nothing :p hah!

...and really, I'm not desperate - just wanted to see what would happen ;) .....

...and the killer is after two days, I hit the pause button but they still charged me for a week's worth  (guess the pause button doesn't work ~_~ )! Black hole indeed :( .....

yeah the pause button LOL... well even IF you gain subs those are probably subs who never will watch your channel anyway or from completely different kind of topic ( like how to cock spaghetti or naughty housewifes ), i believe genuine subs even if little will bring much greater impact over time

Yeah, I gained only one sub. You know, like I've said before, I like subs but it's not the end of all things... I thought it couldn't hurt, though, to see how YouTube (Google) would deal with such a thing. Now I think it has hurt a bit because the views of my unlisted intro shot up into the thousands ( ) without any likes or real subs, so that's probably degraded my channel search within the search results over time. Lesson learned  ~.....

i made that once for one of the facebook pages i manage, i gained thousand of "likes" but to be honest, since a great percentage aren't genuine likes, they most probably wont engage with the company as they would if you like a page the regular way.. i think i grow myself boobs and vlog naked :rolleyes:!

LOL that typo tho

know the feeling man, Mine isnt nearly what i wanted it to be. But then i just look at all the dead and dying channels and I feel better Because i havent given up on my baby just yet

Keep at it, Everyone has their ups and downs, Just ride it out

My channel started just as a place to upload videos of ride outs with mates and stuff ive seen while commuting, and i could of never imagined 500 and odd people would want to watch it too :)

keep at it, market your channel. I know you should make videos because you like doing it but many want their channel to expand. I like the challenge of finding ways to make content entertaining, being able to captivate an audience is a difficult task!

"Why don't loads of people like meeeeeeeee???" :(

How about you man the f*ck up? Or buy some subs to satiate your ego?

There are so many vloggers out there now nobody has time to watch them all, and most are crap, so a lot of people will just sub to a few and ignore the rest.

If you want to make vids then do it. If you don't, or you're having a cry about not getting 'enough' views, then consider stoping.

A wise man once said:

"What other people think about you is none of your business."

Deal with it.
