Motovloggers: Sub 4 Sub?

I hate to be the naysayer here, but i really don't think sub for sub does anybody any favours. Sure, your subs count will look good. But you won't be getting the views to tally up and it'll count against you in Youtube's algorithmic elastictrickery. Plus it'll be frustrating to think you're doing well but the numbers are inflated due to back scratching arrangements.

I have a second twitter account (different, i know) that i 'pumped' the followers up to 11,000 with followbacks and cyclical follower sprees followed by unfollow culls. It looked great and people imagined i was super popular. But NOBODY replied or interacted with my activity with any regularity. It was a great big empty balloon of an account!

I've left it alone now and in a year 5000 followers have gradually slipped away. And even with 6000 left i still have more fun and reach more people with my @AndyManCam account which has less than 200 followers!

What I'm really trying to say is just keep making good videos and let people subscribe because they want to watch and they'll actively build your channel for you!

Please now feel entirely free to tell me to eff off and mind m' bizznizz!

Actually I have never thought about it that way, the subscribers I do have actually watch all my videos. I guess I have taken them for granted. I suppose the idea of Sub 4 Sub is a flawed one.

Sub 4 Sub is one of the major things that is wrong with the YouTube community. Everyone seems to want stellar growth out of the gate. They want to be like the big dogs and try everything under the sun to get there. It starts with sub 4 sub, which is harmless really, to services that will boost your view and subscriber count for a fee. It is a dark path you need not follow. And in the cases of using those services: Your channel will end up banned once YouTube finds out. And they will find out.

If you have it in you to become popular you will get popular. You should start YouTube because you want to have fun, not because you want to become the next JakeTheGardenSnake or DoItWithDan. Honestly, when you think about it, DoItWithDan was just a regular motovlogger till he just took off. According to SocialBlade he will take the crown from JakeTheGardenSnake in the next few months. But as always, SocialBlade stats have to be taken with a grain of salt.

Remember to have fun, the subscribers and the views will come in time. You might never end up at 100K, but still...

A bit, moved to general forum as it's got useful info on sub4sub. Been covered before, but was a while ago.

When I get a new sub, I will usually look at their channel and if I like it, I will sub. I dont want to sub to a lot of channels I know I wont watch, or it will just flood my YT with to many new videos.

Most people don't fancy sub-4-sub schemes, what if there was a thread made just specifically for those that like the sub-4-sub culture where they can post their ID/channel up and gloriously get their sub-4-sub going on with other like-minded ones, and then b*tch amongst each other why that particular guy unsubbed from them or didn't sub back after getting subbed to? (oh what drama)
Maybe having millions of empty subs is their objective?

Just a thought. Personally I dislike sub-4-sub. :)

I have since read all of your educated inputs and understand why Sub 4 Sub is not the right thing to do.

If Google thinks you're doing sub for sub they will cripple your channel in their search results.

Subscriber count means nothing, minutes watched is everything to them.

I only sub channels I know I will watch. As mention Sub 4 Sub is really not the best way to go about it. However I think we have all been there.

I think interaction with viewers is way more important than sub count. What is the fun in making videos to a "fake" audience that won't comment or interact with those videos in any way?

If a vloggers subs me I take the courtesy to check out at least 3 or 4 vlogs.
If i like it, you get a sub back.
If not, then thank you for your sub and i hope you like my video's ;)

I actually watch at least 90% of the video's that the vloggers that i'm subbed to upload.

So it is the only way it works for me ;)
