Motovlog Wish List !!! What's On Your List ?

Never had the luxury of old lenses, but when I do photography I control everything except the focus, Autofocus is good enough when you know how it thinks. For recording video I have to go with manual though, my 550D doesn't have the best autofocus when using the screen.
I hear ya. yeah I like AF when shooting photo too. But video, even if the camera has good AF during video, it still doesn't fit my workflow. I like everything manually controlled including the focus. I tend to use the focus creatively.

My list is getting smaller and smaller, now that I have the helmet mount and mic figured out. I also just ordered a bits and pieces kit to give me more variety in angles and such. (I sold the wife on the idea by telling her she could use the floating handle and my waterproof case to shoot video when she goes snorkeling in Puerto Rico next month. ) So I have no more immediate needs.

But what do I want? A better laptop, for starters. I don't have enough memory, and it's not expandable. I can't run anything except Premiere Elements when I'm editing, and rendering takes forever. I pretty much let it run overnight.

I wouldn't mind a second camera to get multiple angles besides just the helmet cam. That makes editing harder but the videos will be more interesting to watch.

awesome! Yeah I tend to like old manual lenses. I actually shoot full manual when it comes to videos. If I'm doing street photography then I tend to turn on AF but stay in manual exposure mode (so everything other than Focus is manual), that gives me a little speed on trying to grab a random even/moment.

Old lenses give me a cinelens feel though which is awesome

I always shoot in manual. Some people think I'm weird when shooting motorsports, but I like full control. I always use AF though when I can. The 50 f2 is almost only for video and portraits for me.

Aye, I'd probably shoot sports with manual too. Or may be set the AF point to the center one and just move from there. Idk.

As for 50mm f2. It's video and photo for me. You don't have to set it to f2 all the time :D It's just great to have the ability to go up another few f stops. I usually shoot video with f4 or f3.5. B-rolls and whatnot with f2.0 are great, however.

What I was surprised is finding out that local videographers were all baffled when I was talking about manual focus for video as well as everything else set to manual. WTF? Industry standart is manual focus with a follow focus ring.

oooh, but you got a GoPro :D I got Energy Sistem (it costs 200 dollars though woah, not impressed though eh) action camera but I got Adobe CC :D

Yeah, I was hesitant to buy Cc because I thought it was a subscription.

Your camera looked fine in your last video!

It is a subscription.

Reason its like that is because Adobe targets the professional audience, who are likely to upgrade as new versions arrive anyway, this way they can use the software more cheaply, as it takes a few years for the subscription to become as expensive as a 1-time license. + you get all updates for free. As you subscribe to use the software in its newest state.

Not sure what Adobe offers for video, but I go through them for Photoshop and Lightroom and its only 10 bucks a month. They might offer something for Premiere and After Effects.

You can subscribe to each software independently. I don't think Adobe offers any specific video production package. I have the whole line of softwares, but for the vlogs I use Premiere only.

Thanks, Guess I was a little disappointed about it after DSLR footage lol. I was probably expecting too much. Hell even Hero 5 is a little weird yo mu ryrd.

PS. CC is subscription only and unfortunately they don't offer anything for video only afaik

I am looking for a new camera and have some old lenses from the film times.
What camera would these fit to?

Konica Hexanon AR 28mm F3,5

Konica Hexanon AR 40mm 1,8

Rollei Planar HFT 50mm 1,8

Sonnar 135mm 2,8 HFT Carl Zeiss

Vivitar 80-200mm 1: 4,5 Auto Zoom

Omega MC 2X Auto TeleConverter Kon-AR

Or should I simply buy a Sony RX10 III? I need a camera for travelling.
Thanks

You would have to see what modern mounts/cameras those are all compatible with.

Sony has been making some good stuff lately but I'm not familiar with that model. If I weren't a photographer by trade I would be looking to get as compact as a camera I could get with as much features as possible. The Sony A7 (insert model # here) cameras seem really awesome and allow switching lenses out. That's what I would bounce for personally, but you have to look at your needs and see what you want to do.

They can be easy and cheap obtained via Ebay. I inherited them by my father and grandfather along with some nice film cameras that are now sitting in the drawer. Used them quite a lot in the end of eighties and the beginning of nineties.
I see they can be mounted to Sony a7 cameras.
I still remember times when i was traveling with a bag of lenses and a camera or two, but on a motorcycle I don't want to do that. I am heading to Morocco in November and need to get a camera and use two to three lenses at most, or buy a camera like Sony RX10 II or III or something similar with fixed lens.

I would say since you have a ton of awesome lenses go for a Sony A7 and get yourself a good all around autofocus lens that will be your main go-to lens for traveling. Something between 10 and 100mm (sorry I don't know what lenses they offer, but something in that range should work for almost anything you would need traveling) Then when you want to mess around you have all those old school lenses to use!

Best buy: Leica SL with 24-90 lens. I would need to sell my HP4 for that ;)
