Motorbike Filter Crash (no not me this time!)

i have a question.
even tho we didn't see the crash, we can still kinda guess what happened.

Is lane splitting or filtering allowed in your country ?
who would be at fault in this case?

thanks for reading and i hope ur friend is ok

You can see the crash if you look carefully, the biker goes over the top of the bars.
Filtering is legal, but there is lots of grey areas. Its not advised to filter on the left.
People will argue a lot on who is at fault, the biker should have paused at the high topped truck to make sure nothing was coming across his path and so should the car. Both could not see each other.

ok thanks, i didn t watch it on youtube (big pic) just here in the forum. so yeah i did see more than i thought

who will have to pay for this all?

I suppose driving the car you wouldn't be expecting somebody to be there. Just as well nobody was going fast. Bad luck all round...

Shows the need for us to take care for ourselves.

Can understand why he went on left as the truck was indicating right and the road was splitting to a left filter lane, but it shows we can't see anything when filtering past large vehicles. I can't really find fault with the car driver here

This is what I saw...

The biker involved in the crash was just a fellow biker and here is my view of what happened, as I was there ;)

The Biker waiting in the traffic did not filtering down the right side as the Truck was indicating right and had pulled over to the right somewhat. After a few pedal cyclist had indeed filtered down the inside (not shown in video there is a cut at the start) the biker decides to do the same.
It also my view that he intended to go left at the junction not go straight on but changed his mind at the last moment for what ever reason. Its hard to see on the video but he did seem to get ready to take the corner (moved over slightly and looked into the corner) and change his mind at the last moment.

The Land Rover approached the junction indicating he wanted to cross (the junction has a KEEP CLEAR box) and flashed the Truck(?) with his head lights (indicating the Truck had indeed signaled to him it was OK to proceed).

While the filter was ill-advised the Land Rover should have also crossed the junction with better control as he could also not see past the Truck but that said so should have the Biker for exactly the same reason.

At exactly 22 seconds (in full screen and HD 1080p) you can see the biker turns his head full left looking down that side-street, not watching forward or right, and without slowing down as he went past the obstruction.

Personally i think the biker was at fault. As this is a cross junction. Everyone should be aware of whos around and what theyre doing. Saying that though, in the uk we always tend to look right for danger as thats where the traffic flow will always be. Yes the car driver should of crossed the junction with caution but so should have the biker. Why the biker was looking left at the approach, i have no idea. Its a shame and hope he gets it sorted with the insurance.

Notice the Clearway.
Absolutely why you should ALLWAYS have a quik look, ANYTIME you see a 'Clear-way' and traffic NOT covering access, to cross traffic.

Its allways the case of Hind-sight, or in this case, our veiw was seeing all and not just what the rider was looking at...Their was that Hot blonde that helped him. Out of veiw...she coulda been flashin her boobs at him...anyone would get distracted for that...you just never know...lol

Glad to see hes just done a Bond cocktail...'Shaken not Stirred'.
