So today I did some head work on a trx450r and it reminded me why I love the moldstar so much. It just looks amazing. If you notice the intake seats have a little lip that help atomize fuel better. It also adds about 1hp. The intake is ported but not the exhaust and the guides were left stock.

This is another head I did today a gsxr 1000 head with ported ex and in. Also has +1mm intake valves. This is a action shot in the seat cutting machine.

This head was ported and got the valve seats recut. It's off a hayabusa. I did 2 of these heads today they are off of a nitruos bike. Still can't compare to a head with moldstar.

That's some sexy machine work. I've always been fascinated with this kind of tech. How do you define the parameters for a cut? Angle, center, etc?

It's like a cnc machine for valve jobs. The cutting blade moved in and out and the head moves up and down. You build a program on the screen by grouping angles. It uses the valve guide hole to center the valve seat cut. Say you run the program and it didn't cut the whole seat and left some area uncut. You just drop the program down a little more and run it again. There is a probe you can probly see that hits the flat surface on the head to tell it where it is. There is allot to it but if you look up newen head machine they will show you videos. Most head machines are just bits with shapes of how many angles you have and you just drive it down like a drill bit. They are almost always off center and don't cut perfect.

Ah, aligning with the guide makes sense. I know how CNC works in general, but honestly the setup has always kind felt like black magic. Lol

Running a cnc is easy the hard part is creating the tool paths. My buddy has a hass 3ss and getting a 2ss in the next couple weeks. I watch him do the programming part and my head hurts. Doing the valve seats is allot easier. It's really easy when you have a program in the machine for almost every head in the machine already you just load it up and measure everything. The cnc drives me nuts when the op only takes 30 seconds and you are constantly changing parts. I'm not like that with the head machine I just look at the head like holy fuck that's sexy.

@SalvageSV I found this video that kinda shows how the machine works. On the screen in the black box the blue line is the path that was made by adding angles to build the profile the yellow line I believe it was is the existing material it makes about 15 to 20 passes then makes a finishing pass. Depends on the starting material. But you can see the difference. The pink is just marks to show you that you have cut out to new material in the whole seat and it's all round. I tried to make it as a link but it was showing up as a video and didn't wanna break the rules so I just put the link here

Sorry but I can figure out how to just post this as a link and not a video. If someone could help me out here that would be awesome. It keeps turning itself into a video even if I only post the link and don't use the link button or embed button on top.
