Microphone Wind noise problem

I used the purple panda for a while, but still found it too noisy, I've recently switched to using an Interphone Prosound mic and it's by far the best I have used so far. That said I seem to have partially killed a mic adapter riding in the rain this last weekend. So I'm having other issues now!

However YMMV, there are so many variables - I get a lot of turbulence off the fairing of my bike at certain speeds which causes it's own issues.
How's the positioning of the mic? You running it as it's intended or in the cheek pad?

Like I said YMMV, but its working extremely well for me. They are cheap enough to test though! Let us know how you get on with it.
Oh ya, no worries!! I know that for sure, I buy so many bad mics, if it does not work I won't be mad at all. LOL. But if it works for you, I think I at least have a fighting chance to get it to work too. : )

You bet! Will do. May be a week or so though before I upload, looks like shipping is 3-5 days. Plus I need to get it working right, then go on a ride, then edit and upload. But stay tuned....

I've gone through loads of mics at this point looking for that perfect balance, and unsurprisingly the popular purple panda is my best fit. With its direct plug-and-play and ease of use with not having to boost the audio in post I am more than happy.

I did find the Sony ECM-CS3 which I bought years ago to work really well too, with the benefit of adjustable external audio recorder settings + audacity editing. But it was a faff to be honest compared to the panda mic.

The Panda is the only mic that has worked for me so far, LoL! But I'm willing to try a couple more mics just to see if I can edge the quality up just a little bit more. The Panda sounds good to me (at speeds up to 40mph) but it has just a little tiny bit of rattle in the audio once in a while at any speed and wind noise above 40 mph. So I am going to see if Interphone Tour Prosound mic can eliminate that wind noise a bit plus maybe help with the rattle noise too.

The panda worked well for me up to around 50ish. But at 60mph or more there was just a bit too much of a rumble for me.

Last weekend we were on a fast run with ridiculous wind (50+mph storm), I reckon its worked for me.

Only thing is it has a 2.5mm connector, so isn't a straight plug in, but other than that its easy to mount etc.

Fairing and a bigger screen makes a huge difference, and my bike has acres upon acres of wind protection. I suppose this is why the panda works best for me!

@Moto Mengy has the most solid audio solution; spaceship bike with loads of fairing, tall screen, and no mic! Goes to show how fairing can pretty much nil wind noise for capturing audio :)

Which cable or adapter do you recommend for going from the 2.5mm female to 3.5mm connection? There are so many different kinds. One ring, two rings, three rings, 4 rings, and a mix in between on both sides of the connector.

TRS both sides? So two ring 2.5mm female to two ring 3.5mm male adapter? This is for connecting to the Micro USB to 3.5mm female adapter.
Just want to make sure I am ordering the write adapter. : ) I'm guessing I need the old school 2.5mm female two ring to 3.5mm two ring since this is a mic just doing mic work, not mic and sound (which would be the three ring adapter or TRRS?). There are so many terms. TS, TRS, TRRS, and I think there is even a TRRRS, HAHA!!

TRS female 2.5mm to TRS male 3.5mm

I ordered thi:

Yep, TRS is working for me.

I've just soldered a longer lead onto mine with a 3.5mm connector on it, sorted. I hate having extra connections, more places for signal degradation or crud to get in. Plus the lead is now exactly the right length.

Yes, I agree the less connections the better, less chances for things to go wrong. It would be awesome if I could just get one Micro USB to female 2.5mm TRS GoPro Hero 4 cable then I would be golden. Then I would only have 2 cables/connectors instead or 3 or 4 (cables/connectors). Or even better yet how about a direct mic to GoPro USB connector? : )
