Mic placement - Capture voice AND Scala/Sena audio from 1 mic?

Hey folks,

So I've been experimenting with my Drift Ghost S and microphone placement, trying to get an ideal result that would capture both my voice, and audio from my Scala G9's earpiece at a reasonable quality. The helmet I'm using is an Icon Variant. I do not want to use any smartphone apps or a 2nd mic/recorder etc if I can avoid it.

My original mic was an $8 "Genius" lapel mic from a computer store, which works surprisingly well with a spare Scala mic foam over it to prevent wind noise. However, that's rather bulky, and I've since replaced it with the Drift Ghost mic.

One night that I was riding with some friends, I had the Genius mic shoved into the right-side helmet strap cut-out, over the strap itself, putting it directly beside the Scala speaker. In this position my voice was very muffled, but audible -- and unbeknownst to me, it captured my friends' voices over the Scala fairly well too. I'm going to attempt the same setup with the Drift mic, but I really want to find a way to set this up where both my own voice, and the Scala, will sound more clear and crisp.

Has anyone used this particular combination of equipment, and/or found an ideal placement/method to get clear audio from both sources?

Here's the video from said night. Note my muffled voice -- when I have the mic up-front sticking just inside of the right cheek-pad, my voice comes out crisp and clear. BTW, don't mind the hooliganism... we get a little nutty sometimes on our random rides. ;P

Subscribed dude! Dope footage. I've got the same issue right now. SENA makes a back-pack for GoPro's (I know you're using a drift though) but the problem I have is that the backpack they made is only compatible with the bare-frame for the GoPro. This unfortunately leaves the front lens completely open to rocks and sh*t like that.....

Might have to give your idea a try! Seems to work decently!

~ Cheers
