Looking for new bike input

So I've been thinking a lot lately about what my next bike actually is going to be and I'm pretty much decided on a 600cc super sport. Mainly because I'm not going to get any younger and I may as well enjoy the pain of the super sports while I can still handle it. The main 4 I have in mind are the SV650, R6, CBR600RR and the F4i. I know a lot about the bikes in general, however which bike would you guys consider to be the easiest to work on? After seeing billmaas video about his VFR vs his ZX12R and working on my KLR a ton lately I now consider how easy a bike is to work on something of great value. Especially if I decide to keep the super sport and turn it into a track bike.

Thoughts?
 
As a former salesman this is my element!! =D

First off: is the SV the faired SV650"s" or the naked SV650? I have the naked one. Working on it wise, it is super easy. Shim under bucket valves are the only bad thing about them. And alot of people turn them into track bikes so while they are not the typical Inline 4 fully faired sportbike, they are still popular and track compatable.

I have never owned a Yamaha, never even rode one truthfully so no pros and cons from me...

I used to ride my brother's CBR600rr often. Great bike, but if you want to touch it with a tool your going to take off all the fairings which is a pain but part of the territory and since it IS a Honda you'll have a pretty solid machine.

The F4i is really just a more street friendly version of it's track bike brother the 600rr. And truth be told the 600rr is somewhat detuned in comparison to the other big Japanese brands; lower end power, less top end punch, etc. So...

If you are anything like me, you would go with the R6.
The reason you have for getting one is a good one, you want the real deal while you can still physically not loathe it...
If you get the SV, your going to think sometime somewhere in the back of your head that you got a V-twin when you really wanted an Inline 4.
If you get the Hondas, again in the back of your head you'll know you got a detuned version of the nastiest (I mean the in a good way) bikes in the world.

The R6 is the real hard and tough supersport of the bunch. It is a little bit harder to work on than the SV due to the fairings, but it is still not very hard and if you get in over your head just remember that it is a Jap bike and parts and mechanics are everywhere.

On a side note....Insurance costs. The SV is dirt cheap compared to the others, but even though the Hondas are more tame, you wont see a significant kickback in your premiums, it would be the same as the Yamaha.

I've had two SV's in the past, a 2002 SVS (faired) and a 2004 SVN (Naked). I wouldn't call either one of them a supersport. They have about 72 hp at the wheel vs. about 105 hp for the others. The SV would be easier to work on, but other than that they are not in the same class. Why aren't you considering the GSXR-600 or the ZX6R?

I'm considering all 600cc bikes but was mainly asking about the Honda's because of the F4i which seems to get a lot of track attention as does the R6 and SV650. The ZX6R I'm interested in but I've owned two kawis now and would like to try something else. Sadly I don't know much about GSXR's other than squids like to bling them :oops: but would still consider one.

hmm I have owned the f4i (as my first big bike for many reasons similar to yours) and loved it. Not as much power as the R6 (what I currently own) but just as much fun. Street or town riding is much easier on the f4i due to the R6 being more snappy and twitchy. The CBR was a 2001 FI Sport and the R6 is 2002 carbed. I do notice the fuel injection is smoother but that can be down to tuning and setup.

Riding position is fine on both bikes, I'm able to ride for a few hours without stopping, I actually found the seat slightly softer than the Honda. Both bikes are solid, more important (if you are buying used) to get one with decent service history.

Oh and insurance in the UK was cheaper for the CBR, over in Ontario they are all classed the same.

Was following one of them home from work, guy on it was thrashing it around! Even tried to over take a busa and then burn it off the lights! The busa rider looked so confused :P
