Looking For Good Action Camera

I'm looking for a good action camera but I'm not sure which one to buy any help and feedback would be appreciated. I've looked at the Sena prism, Ion air pro 2, drift ghost, and several others. I like the go pro for its sound quality I just feel like the image quality is hit or miss and generally looks washed out.

I like the drift ghost best personally. It is just super quick and simple and looks great if setup correctly. Gopros are also great and so are the sony cams. I own all three but only ever seem to use the drift. My brother has the ion air pro 2 and it looks really good from what I've seen. He doesn't ride though so I have no idea how it would be for vlogging. The sena cam from what I've read has the most features for recording like dual vlogs, etc. but I've heard the quality is not so great and I would imagine battery life would suck.

Compare the features of each camera and decide which ones you really want, (eg rotating lens, camera screen, etc)
and which features you can live without or don't want. Only you can decide which is best for your needs.

I use Drift Stealth 2 and it's great for me. It's smaller than Ghost and more aerodynamic that GoPros, what makes it perfect as an action camera. You should decide what features of a camera you need. They have a lot of information about it on their site.

Do you have an external mic setup? I ordered a Drift stealth 2 not too long ago knowing that it doesn't have an actual mic port but I ordered an adapter cable that could fit into the mini usb port which I'm hoping will work, just wondering if anyone has a working external mic set up for the Stealth 2

Personally, Drift stealth would be tits.

But all the big names use gopro, and they almost all chin mount it.

Im running a garmin virb elite, Its a good , decent cam. Im happy with it so far

I like the Drift Ghost S as a helmet cam its good, fits easily, good video and sound once you get the mic set right and you don't look like a telly tubby with it as you can with a gopro on your head.

You can do any colour correction you want in post-production in about 2 seconds, as long as the source material is good quality. I wouldn't rule out the GoPro just because of that.

To me all of the action cam front runners are good cameras (drift, gopro, sony) what it really comes down to is what you want in a camera and what you want it to look like on your helmet. Quality is good with them all and you can make great content with them all so focus more on how you want to mount, etc.

My choice was the ghost for the way it mounts and the ease of adding the external mic, and now that I use it the remote is awesome.

I use a GoPro for most of my other filming.

I ride with both the Drift Ghost HD and the Go Pro Hero 4 Black.

The Hero 4 Black is much higher quality as I have done a split screen review (which I have not posted yet) and it speaks for itself!

That being said .... the Drift's battery lasts 2 times longer, is waterproof even when you plug in an external mic, doesn't require higher writing speed SD cards and you can change the lens orientation by simply twisting it!

It really depends on what is important to you!

Drift Ghost S and latest GoPro if you want a top of the range camera with all the bells and whistles. Or if you just want a basic, but still decent quality, camera have a look at the SJ4000. You can pick up the legitimate ones for around £50 and they are basically a copy of the GoPro, just not quite up there but well worth £50.

I'd avoid the latest GoPros. The Black's battery life is terrible and the Silver is more expensive and identical in specs to the 3+ Black.

Ah, fair enough. What he said ^ :)

I haven't followed the latest GoPros tbh. Never had much interest in them.

I'd stay away from sony unless your into adv riding to which its stabilization is gold, but for general road riding, get the gopro (cant comment on the other camera as ive only had the gopro and sony) I just bought the hero 4 silver the other day, compared my old footage from both sony as30v and as100v and found out the sony cant handle fast action scenes as well as the gopro does, you especially notice this under compression ( ie youtube) you'll notice a split second blocking artifacts if put under minor shaking and sudden light changes

Just in case anyone is still looking for an action camera on here!
I use the Drift HD 1080p, I picked mine up for £60! that's pretty decent for a drift camera. Its also quite discrete compared to some of the others that stick out, something to think about!

holy crap thats a good price. where?

I found it on eBay, this guy is always adding more to his eBay page! He puts them on for £70, but if you send an offer for £60, he accepts automatically (and yes I've tried going lower than £60 and he wont accept! :p)
I'd post a link but I can't just yet :(

*edit - I don't know if you can do a search, but his eBay name is 'action.cameras'. I see now that they are refurbished, but mine came pretty new!
