Set# 10294, comes out next week.

Oh man, you gotta post pics/vid of it if you get it! My wife and I looked at it, but decided to pass on it for the same reason: nowhere to display it!

I watched a couple of reviews of it - it looks like a ton of fun to build :D

OK, I officially have a problem. Last night I decided I wanted the 1989 Batmobile set, so today I dragged my wife to the Lego store and bought it... and started building it. 3 hours in, I have 5/24 bags completed, and it's totally badass. Very challenging build, lots of black/dark gray, and I've already screwed up twice.

I am taking many pics of the build and posting them on my Instagram [@RoadReality - I would post a link but don't want my hand smacked]

So far, I highly recommend this build if you have a lot of patience and at least SOME experience building Lego. With a lot of the same color parts and some advanced building techniques, it's not for beginners IMO.

Mengy I watched a great video review of that kit on YT the other day and I am not a lego builder but I also want it ! Awesome.

But 19kg would make for a big freight cost and it costs $600 as it is.

And it is big, very big!

Titanic, even.

Sadly I can think of several better ways to spend my money. (My missus can no doubt think of hundreds).

Wow, it's that heavy? 19kg seems excessive... I mean, the 1989 Batmobile I'm working on is 3.5kg [7.7lbs] when completed, and it's about a third the piece count [3300 versus 9000]. I've been wrong before, though.

Yeah last night my girlfriend found a place in the house she thought would make for a great spot to place the Titanic.

She isn't helping me resist the urge to buy it....

Don't worry - the Lego website lists it as out of stock, and none of my local Lego stores have it [IIRC, it'll not be released until Nov. 8 anyway]

As I get closer to the end of the 1989 Batmobile build, I am highly tempted to pick up the 1989 Batwing to go with it. I am quickly running out of places to store the boxes OR models.

-John

OK, I decided to display all the boxes for one quick pic and reorganize "The Stack" as I've come to call it :D The only one still in the shipping box is the Lambo Sian.

In all actuality, the D11 dozer took me a little over a week to complete. Couple of hours each

Probably... but like a cheap new bike. It's only about $3k worth of Lego... which after I build it and re-box it, will still be worth $2-2.5k, if not more once the sets are retired. Apparently Lego is a solid investment - who knew?

-John
Wow, cool. I did not know Lego had such good resale value.

The whole "In all actuality, the D11 dozer took me a little over a week to complete. Couple of hours each" thing. I started writing a post, thought I deleted it, wrote the rest of the post, and posted. And it posted that nonsense at the beginning. OOPS.

-John
Hmm... sounds ok to me! I thought maybe it came in multiple segments or something.

Saw this set at Lego Land, California. Lots of detail on this one! Wish they had the As or Giants stadium though, I would of bought it on the spot.

Not all sets do, but the more time that passes after they're retired, the less unopened ones remain, so they go way up in value. My wife saw some of my 90s sets where NIB one are selling for THOUSANDS. It's bonkers.

It comes in many, many bags, and you complete them one at a time, adding that module to the overall model. Good times.

Thanks :D

Awesome, thanks for all your responses. Yes, I think the bag approach helps a lot.

Some of my sets came in multiple bags too.

To think of it, most of the sets with over 100 pieces come in multiplie bags which helps a lot.

We had one set though that was awful. It was the mario set, not only did it not come in multiple bags it did not have a paper instruction manual! You had to download the manual with your phone and that was a huge pain to follow. Constantly scrolling left and right and up and down the small phone screen in an attempt to assemble the model was no fun.

Oh, the playable worlds thing? Some sort of scanner on the bottom of Mario & Luigi?

If so, I saw a video the other day, and the reviewer mentioned that. That's a hard pass for me, dawg.

I already look at screens too much each day, no way in hell do I want to be staring at a screen while building Lego.

YES!!!! Exactly, same for me and my son!!!! No screens for putting Legos together in the future. Love the little Lego books, it is the only way to go!
